Louie Anthony Kuylen
December 8, 1926 - October 20, 2017

Place of Birth: Woonsdrecht, Holland
Residence: Sidney, Montana
Age: 90

Louie Anthony was born on December 8, 1926, to Peter and Emily (Lux) Kuylen, the youngest of four children in Woensdrecht, Holland. As a young man he worked at the family pub and hotel, “Non Plus Ultra”. From November of 1944 to November of 1947, Louie served as an ally of the United States while a member of the Netherland military. In November of 1949, Louie applied for Declaration of Intention to come to the USA. Arriving in America, he settled in South Heart, ND to work for his uncle and aunt on their farm. Enjoying his new life in America, especially after meeting the love of his life, Eva Binstock, he asked her to marry him and they said their vows at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on October 13, 1953. To this union, Emily, Ruth, Mary Kay, Mark and Phil were given life. Louie applied for his citizenship in May of 1952, and his dreamed was fulfilled when he became a US citizen in April of 1957.
Louie worked for Peavey Elevator in South Heart, ND and transferred to Sidney Mt in 1956. Louie’s jobs took him from trying his hand at crop-dusting, manager of the VFW club and desk clerk for Park Plaza Motel. In his retirement years Louis and Eva liked to work in their yard, took a trip to Holland in 1977 and loved spending time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Louie was a faithful member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, a 3rd degree Honorary Life Member of Knights of Columbus, member of VFW Post #4099 for 39 years, 23 of which he held quartermaster of the Post. He was a Legacy Life Member of the VFW National Home and member of the Military Order of Cooties, where he held Seam Squirrel (commander) of Cooties Pup Tent from 1991-1993. Louie’s years involved with the VFW were some of his best years!
Louie passed away on October 20, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Louie is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Eva Kuylen, Sidney, MT; his children, Emily (Ken) Hoff, Ruth Burns, Mark Kuylen and Phil Kuylen all of Sidney, MT; his 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and close friends.
Louie was preceded in death by: his parents; siblings; infant daughter, Mary Kay; and son-in-law, Gregg Burns.
