Benny L. Thompson passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at his farm north of Battleview, ND. Benny Lee Thompson was born on November 6, 1942, the son of Ben and Annie Thompson, in Powers Lake, ND. He graduated from Powers Lake High School in 1961.

He enlisted in the US Army in February, 1962. He was stationed in Germany and during that time, he specialized in driving tanks. He was a Marksman for Rifle M-1, Expert Rifle for M-14, Marksman for Pistol 45 and Marksman for TK-cal. He was honorably discharged in February of 1965 and was in the reserves until 1968. After serving his country, he worked on the family farm north of Battleview, ND.

He was part owner of ABC Services out of Tioga, ND. He became an oilfield worker and farmer when he sold the business. His hobbies were restoring old tractors, wood working and reading.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Melba Herseth and brother-in-law, Donald Mrochinski. Benny is survived by 2 brothers, Curtis and Duane (Carol) Thompson; a sister, Dorothy Mrochinski; sister-in-law, Diane Thompson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Sorry to hear about Benny. He used to pump wells for me with BTA. He was always so particular in his work and very dependable. Was a great man. RIP

MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH CURTIS AND THE REST OF THE FAMILY. I GOT TO KNOW BENNY WHEN HE AND CURTIS CAME TO GOOSENECK IMP IN KENMARE FOR PARTS. I ALLWAYS ENJOYED TALKING TO THEM ABOUT THEIR PROJECTS ON THE OLD TRACTORS AND PARTS FOR THEM. AND ALSO TALKING ABOUT FARM TOYS. HE WILL BE MISSED.
