Helen Arlene Wright, 93, long time Williston resident passed away Thursday afternoon, July 27, 2017 at her home in Williston ND.
Helen was born May 9, 1924 in Lakota, ND the daughter of William and Iva (Richardson) Howen. She was raised in Grand Forks and moved with her family to Williston, shortly after she started working at JC Penny. She and her sister, Myrtle, joined a church youth group and became good friends with her future sister-in-law, Bev, who later introduced the couple.
On October 5, 1947 Helen married Donald Wright. The couple had three children, Linda, Rodney and Lorin. They made their home in Williston until May 1978 when Donald passed away. Helen then returned to the workforce at Mercy Hospital, retiring in 1989.
Retirement allowed Helen her greatest joys: taking care of family, including Don’s family who she stayed close to, baking, bird watching and gardening. She was famous for her homemade buns.
Surviving Helen are her family: Linda (Craig) Davis of Williston and their children, Shawn (Shatha) Huss and their children Michael & Braya. Jeremy Huss and his children Kaitlyn & Brianna. Tara Huss-Redding (Spencer Redding) and their children, Satori and Demira. Chad (Sara) Davis and their children Amelia & Grae. Lorin Wright and his children Liz (Scott) Miller and their children Aubrey & Presley. Nikki (Jeff) Roderfeld and their son Will. Ashley (Damion Barkie) Alexander and their son Graadin. Layken (Heath) Glenn. Daughter-in-law Tammy Wright and daughter Kealy and Rod’s son Matt (Melissa) Wright. Two sisters Alice (Ralph) Fisk of Bismarck. Judith (Daniel) Long of Williston and one brother Raymond (Mary Alice) Howen of Marshfield, WI.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Don, son Rod, son-in-law Michael Huss and four brothers, Milton, Dale, Ralph and Buddy; and three sisters Luella, Joyce and Myrtle.

Sharon, for all the weekly hair fixing and coffee, Jan for all the advice and Fourth of July celebrations at the lake, Linda Hotchkiss, who was like a daughter, Tonya who attended Helen in her last weeks and Hospice nurses who were great and Lorraine and her cleaning crew for all the special treatment.
