Dale L. Landers, 71, of Williston, ND, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston. Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Williston is assisting the family.
Dale Lavern Landers was born on April 20th 1945 in Williston N.D. and was baptized in the Lutheran faith. He lived in rural Williston with his parents Deihl and Olga (Larson) and his siblings Alice, Darlene, John and Dorothy. Dale was very close to his siblings and they seemed to always be there for one another but he also had a very close bond with his big brother Johnny. Dale was raised attending school in Williston and worked a short while for Triangle Electric before heading to the oil patch. Dale loved being a roughneck and always had great stories to tell. He worked in the oil fields for quite a few years until he broke his back on the rigs in the early 80's. He was always bound and determined to get back up on the floor but never did.
Dale started a family in his early years and with that relationship and marriage two sons were born, Pal & Shawn. He was very proud of his boys and talked about them frequently. Dale later met Yvonne Sorenson. Dale and Yvonne had two children together, Lance & Sherri. Dale and Lance were very close, Dale would seldom let Lance out of his sight and always had a bit of good wisdom to teach him. Dale was a father figure and friend to Lance’s siblings, Lynn, Lanette, Lori, Marty, Dana and Dawn.
Dale later met the Love of His Life, Jane Wegley. The two had met when they were just teenagers and lost contact for awhile but later on in life they found each other again and never drifted apart (they were inseparable and had a love for one another that most can only dream of). With this union Dale would gain a faithful and helping sister, Judy Elletson (Syth). Dale became a father figure and shared his spirit of guidance with his five stepchildren who were very close to him, Paula , Abraham, Antonio, Danita and Kandi.
Dale enjoyed sightseeing and going for drives, he was always eager to get on the road and look at all of Gods beauty. He also loved animals and taking care of them and having them around as loyal companions. Dale also liked going for walks, helping others in need and sticking up for the less fortunate. He was great at giving advice and lecturing about life choices. Dale enjoyed the simpler things in life like watching movies and spending time with his family and close friends.
Dale is survived by his sister Darlene (Larry)Faulkner of Arnegard ND, sister Alice Iverson of Lewistown Mt, son Shawn Landers of Wasilla Ak, son Lance Landers (Mandy) of Billings Mt, Best friend and life-long companion Jane Wegley of Williston Nd, stepsons & daughters: Paula Hahn (Don Radke) of Williston, Antonio Syth of Williston, Abraham Alvarado of Williston, Danita Busse (Charlie)Cavalier ND, Kandi Stearns (Corey Seidel) of Williston, Marty Sorenson (Veronica)of Great Falls Mt, Lynn Sorenson (Greg Bangert) of Williston, Lori Sorenson Gordon (Russ Johnson) of Williston, Lanette Sorenson of Williston, Dana Sorenson (Pat Burke) of Williston and Dawn Sorenson, and many wonderful grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
