In Jory’s younger years, he was involved in Boy Scouts, 4-H, and FFA. He went to Nationals for FFA his senior year. In Boy Scouts, he earned his Eagle Scout Award. He was also involved in baseball, basketball, football, and track. He earned an All-Conference Award in basketball his senior year. He was a proud member of the Road Warriors Basketball team that was coached by his Uncle Don. After graduating he became involved in bowling and golf. He played in many golf tournaments with his Dad and Uncles Bob, Clint and Frank Loehding. He also went to many state bowling tournaments with the Montana Bar Bowling team. Like his Grandma Helen, he loved to play pool. He was in many pool tournaments. He loved to hunt and went on a yearly hunting trip with his Dad, Uncle Rick, Nick Bemer, and Joe McGinnis.

Jory’s love of sports led him to coaching. He coached in Bainville, Brockton, Circle, and Wolf Point. He also coached his daughters’ T-ball and Lil Cowgirls traveling basketball team. In the last few days, numerous messages from former players have been sent saying how he was not only their coach, but a mentor and in later years a friend. Jory loved coaching and always had a new quote of motivation before each game. One of his biggest memories of coaching basketball is winning the District B championship in Wolf Point.

Jory taught in Culbertson, Brockton, Circle and Poplar. He loved teaching, but he especially loved teaching Math. He also worked as a Seismograph Tech for his Uncle Rick, helped his Uncle Bob at his business, worked at the safflower plant, and helped his brother-in-law Joe with his White Horse Construction business and as an oil roustabout. This last year he worked on the farm of Don and Betty Johnson. He enjoyed working there because of the wonderful family that they are. He worked with the whole family and got close to them all. He once said that their family would be forever in his heart. He also worked on construction with a good friend, Dude Rattling Thunder.

Jory married Dessie Williams on May 28, 2007 in Leed, South Dakota. The two of them had a beautiful daughter, Koree Kay Irene Marchwick. Jory was a proud father and his life centered on his daughter. His love for her was amazing to see.

Jory and his Dad shared a friendship that will live on forever. They did everything together and eventually even started a rental business. Jory stated that his Dad was not only his dad but his best friend. Jory liked to travel with his dad and good friend Bob Lab to his nephews, niece and daughter’s sporting events. Jory and his mom shared the love of teaching and the joy of working with young children. They also cooked many dinners together but Jory eventually became a better cook than his mom. He was known for his prime rib specialty. He was a protective brother to his sisters, a role model for his little brother and a proud uncle of his nieces and nephews. If you were his friend and needed anything he would be there to help. You could tell by his twinkling eyes and huge smile that he loved life. Jory grew up in a huge family and loved doing things with them. When you got a hug from Jory you knew that he thought you were special. His family received many over the years.

Gene, Shirley, Tiff, & family - I can't even express how deep my heart goes out to you all! Jory was my friend, my classmate, and once again my dear friend. He always went out of his way to say hi to me & give me a hug. I just saw him in Plentywood at the basketball tournament (imagine that, Jory where there was basketball being played) & was able to give him one last hug. Prayers go to you all!

I facilitated a NASA Summer Institute class at Sitting Bull College and Jory came as a student. I remember when they were introducing themselves he looked at me and said, "you're my auntie!" That was how I met "my nephew!" He had such a passion to teach and was always smiling. May God give his mom, dad, siblings, &daughter the strength and comfort beyond understanding. Heaven welcomed an exceptional angel!
