Aileen B. Moran Hackley
July 28, 1932 - December 17, 2016

Place of Birth: Fairview, Montana
Residence: Sidney, Montana
Age: 84

Aileen Moran Hackley, 84, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at the Sidney Health Center Extended Care with family by her side.
Aileen Bertie Vanderhoof was born July 28, 1932, in Fairview, MT, to parents Daniel Ward and Bertie (Babcock) Vanderhoof. Aileen was raised in Fairview with her brother and two sisters and attended Fairview Schools, graduating in 1950. After high school she worked at the Sidney Music Mart and Production Marketing Association.
On February 21, 1952, Aileen was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Allen Moran. She always enjoyed sharing the story of her first date with her family. She would smile as she described Bob picking her up in a farm truck and going on a double-date to Dreamland, the local community center. Bob and Aileen farmed south of Sidney and grew their family to include five children. In 1962 they sold their farm, moved into town, and purchased a partnership in Sidney Red-E-Mix. Aileen dedicated herself as a homemaker and assisted the business with its bookkeeping. Aileen enjoyed summers and weekends entertaining family and friends at their cabin on Rock Creek at Ft. Peck Reservoir. Aileen also shared great memories with Bob of traveling to Jamaica, Hawaii, and Mexico with close friends. Aileen and her family lost Bob when he passed away in 1978. After Robert's passing, Aileen worked at the Sidney Greenhouse and The Flower Topp until 1984, when she began working at the Sidney Livestock Center, from which she retired in 2008. On June 12, 1987, Aileen was remarried to William Hackley. Aileen and Bill enjoyed dancing and playing cards.
Aileen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Women of The Moose, and had been a member of Sidney Jaycees, Elks Club, Sidney Country Club, BETA, and a local bridge club. Aileen is remembered as a gentle, soft-spoken woman with a big heart. She was affectionately called "Grandma A" by her grandchildren and their friends, certain friends even called her "Grandma A+". Her family and friends will forever remember her for her competitiveness in cards and board games, and for her family gatherings of pizza and ice cream cake, although Aileen's most favorite gathering of all was Christmas Eve. She had hand-knitted beautiful stockings for her children all the way through her great grandchildren, in-laws included, and delighted in providing stocking stuffers. She was generous with her knitting talents providing quilts and other gifts that will truly be cherished. Aileen felt blessed to have her children stay in Sidney to raise their families and she enjoyed following her grandchildren's activities.
Aileen is survived by: sons, Arlen (Jackie) Moran, Michael (Shelley) Moran, daughter, Tammy (Keith) Dynneson; grandchildren, Melinda (Andy) Gandrud - Bryan, TX, Cassie (Kyle) Erickson - Rozette, WY, Lacey Dynneson - Sidney, MT, Kenny (Jennifer) Moran - St. Paul, MN, Jay (Heidi) Moran - Sidney, MT, Katelyn Dynneson - Sidney, MT, Alexis Dynneson - Sidney, MT; great grandchildren Ashton & Kourtney Gandrud, Kathrine & Emma Erickson, Colter & Rylan Volkman, Eilee & Thomas Moran, Harlee & Brylee Moran; husband, William Hackley and his daughters Diane Spoklie (children Dena, Zane, & Mandi), Sheri Lawrence, Cynthia Hackley (children Jasmine & Dani); sisters-in-law Beverly Moran King & Shirley McChesney Moran Eastlick; brother-in-law Lynn (Linda) Powers; numerous nieces & nephews very dear to her heart; and wonderful friend & neighbor Lola Herbert.
Aileen is preceded in death by her husband Robert Moran (1978), son Eugene Moran (1959), daughter Patti Moran (1972), brother Glen Vanderhoof, sisters Wanda Peterson & Corrine Jensen.

I have so many fond memories of Aileen. Cabin trips, pizza parties and sleepovers at the Moran house to name a few. She was such a kind and gentle person and was so easy to talk to. We enjoyed visiting her when she was here in Billings for rehab after her surgery and her stroke. My mom and dad sure enjoyed the trips to Fort Peck as well as Jamaica and their many other adventures. May she Rest In Peace. My condolences and sympathy to all her family and friends.

So sorry to here of Aileen's passing. I knew her as Mrs. Moran and Patti's mom. She was my bluebird leader. I remember her kindness to a little girl who was living in a difficult situation. I remember some of the simple craft things we made and the cookies she always had baked. When I turned 8, her and Patti bought me this elephant piggy bank. I still have it and it always brings a smile. May you all find blessings in all of your memories. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
