James (Jim) Allen Kollman, 68, of Williston, passed away Saturday, October 29th, 2016, at CHI St. Alexius in Williston, with his caring wife by his side.
Jim was born on April 17th, 1948 in Harrisburg, PA. Jim was adopted by Maurice and Sue Kollman of Landusky, MT. Jim graduated from Williston High School in 1966. He joined the US Navy in May of 1969. He served in Vietnam and Korea, and was honorably discharged in March of 1973. After his discharge he returned to Williston, ND.
Jim met Donna Rehak at Band Day in Williston in May of 1973. They married August 25th, 1973 and moved to Fargo, ND. Jim attended Hanson Mechanic School in Fargo. Upon completion, Jim and Donna moved to Hinsdale, MT. In January of 1975, Jim and Donna had their first child, Jeannie. In November of 1977, they had their second child, James. The family then moved to Williston in 1980. Jim worked for Marv’s Roustabout during the oil boom of the 1980’s. Jim then transitioned careers and started working at Opportunity Foundation in Williston, ND. In 1999, Jim and Donna were divorced. Jim met his second wife, Teresa Knutson, while working at Opportunity Foundation. Jim retired from Opportunity Foundation in 2013 after 20+ years of helping his clients live more fulfilling lives.
Jim loved fishing at Blacktail Dam, where he enjoyed many years of lake cabin life. He enjoyed hunting, football, motorcycles, monster trucks, professional wrestling, muscle cars, and most recently, NASCAR “Go JR Go!” One of the highlights of Jim and Teresa’s time together was their trip to Arizona, where Jim was able to experience NASCAR live and in person.
Survivors include his wife Teresa, Williston; daughter Jeannie (Mark) Holter and their children Grace and Jaimie, Minot; son Jimmy (Tami) Kollman and their children Brady, Brent, Andrea, Angela, Alicia, Anthony, Devils Lake; and daughter Jasmine (Sherman) Rogalski, and their children Sherman Jr, Marie, Rebecca, Portia, Joshua, Karissa, Hailey, Bemidji, MN.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Olson for his excellent care of Jim and CHI St. Alexius in his final days.
Jim was proceeded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, his parents, and his brother David Kollman.
