Iva Jones, 83, of Keene, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 at St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson, ND.
Iva was born Dec. 17 1932 to Henry and Ivonetta (Martin) Norby near Charlson, ND. She was the 9th of 15 children and attended school in Charlson and Sanish.
Iva worked at numerous farms in the area until her marriage to David Jones of Keene on September 15, 1951.
Iva was active in Faith Lutheran Church teaching Sunday School and as a member of the Ladies Aid. With many sibling serving in the military, she took much pride in serving on the VFW Auxiliary. She served many years as a leader for Keene Lucky Leaf 4-H Club. She enjoyed playing a round of golf and was outstanding bowler. Iva’s average bowling was 280.
Iva always welcomed you with coffee and home baked goodies. She had many talents which included sewing, painting, quilting and crocheting afghans. Many lawn ornaments, still on display in the yard were hand drawn, cut out and painted by her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved infant daughter Sandra, and her son Terry, her parents, and 12 brothers and sisters.
Iva is survived by her husband of 65 years David; children, daughter Valorie (Mike) Uhlir of Grand Forks, their children Adam and Megan Shaul; son Larry Jones of Keene; daughter Wendy (Mike) Tyrer of Beloit, WI, her child Jennifer; and daughter in law Anne (survived by Terry) Jones of Dickinson, their children Ryan, Abigayle, Kendall, Lucas and Colton. Iva has 6 great grandchildren, Kelli Jo, Tera, Kali, Kira, Ashton and Jacob.
