It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Verna L. Sheehan
June 22, 1934 - July 13, 2016

Residence: Billings, MT formerly of SIdney, MT

Verna was born on June 22, 1934, to parents, Clarence and Jessie (Whiteman) Rosaaen. She was the oldest of 6 children, one brother Rodger, and four sisters, Doris, Shirley, Charlotte, and Gloria. Verna attended school at the Rosaaen Country School and the Richey High School. On March 13, 1953, Verna was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Sheehan, a single father of 3 children, Ronnie, Mavis, and Brenda. Their family increased rapidly with the addition of Jan, Dave, Dick, Don, and Daryl. Verna said the happiest time of her life was when all the kids were home. Verna and Chuck farmed and raised many animals. Sunday’s were Verna’s company days with fried chicken and lots of Chuck playing music with family and friends. After her husband, Chuck died on June 3, 1987; Verna spent most days with her sisters and brothers in addition to taking care of her kids and grandkids. It was not unusual for Shirley and Leo to come home and find Verna asleep in their house, or for Steve and Gloria to go to bed after a heated game of farkle, leaving Verna to finish a puzzle. Verna left an everlasting impression on everyone she knew, if you loved her family, she loved you. However, if you crossed her, you knew it, possibly even receive a letter in the mail. (Ask her boys)
Verna was a member of the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Sidney and the VFW Auxiliary. Verna enjoyed playing games, puzzles, collecting chickens, and watching football with the Harris family. She loved sewing, quilting, making bread and noodles and taking care of everyone.
In 2013, when it was hard to get around, Verna moved into the Crestwood Inn and later to the St. John’s Lutheran Ministries Nursing Home in Billings, MT. Verna won the hearts of all the staff members and residents. Her and her daughter, Jan, played bingo almost every Monday, Friday, and Saturday, lots of family members joined in when possible.
For a woman that lost her use of speech, walking and most of her movement, Verna retained her sense of humor and mischief. Verna could speak volumes without ever saying a word. She was able to stick her tongue out to the amusement of staff.
Verna passed away on July 13, 2016, at the St John’s Lutheran Ministries Nursing Home in Billings with her family at her side. She was loved by many and will be sorely missed and never forgotten. May she rest easy in the arms of Jesus. We love you!
Surviving her are: her 4 sons, Ron Sheehan, Dave (Frannie) Sheehan, Reno, NV, Don (Dawn) Sheehan, Crane, MT, Daryl (Melanie) Sheehan, Sidney, MT; her 3 daughters, Brenda DeShaw, Columbia Falls, MT; Mavis (Gordy) Smith, Boulder City, NV; Geneva “Jan” (Raymond) Schmierer, Billings, MT; her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Sheehan, Billings, MT; her brother, Rodger (Margaret) Rosaasen, Hazen, ND; her 2 sisters, Shirley (Leo) Miller and Gloria (Steve) Harris all of Sidney, MT; her brother-in-law, Orin Anderson, Sidney, MT; 26 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and numerous great great grandchildren.

I am so sorry for your loss. Aunt Verna was a huge part of my growing up years and I treasure the memories. I pray we all find peace in the memories. She was good people and was truly a mama bear about her kids. She loved you all so much no matter what. May she be enjoying being with Uncle Charles and Dick again. Love you Aunt Verna.
