Janai Rae Jean Lone Bear
October 3, 2003 - June 28, 2022

Place of Birth: Tacoma, Washington
Residence: Mandaree, North Dakota
Age: 18

Janai Rae Jean Lone Bear entered the world on October 3, 2003 at the Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, WA to LaToya Lone Bear.

She was raised the majority of her life by Grandma (Mom) Verna and Grandpa LeRoy (Papa) in Mandaree, ND. She graduated from Mandaree High School on May 21, 2022. She also participated in basketball, volleyball.

There are so many words that describe Janai. She was one of the most loving and selfless people you could meet. She was loyal and was always looking out for others. She was strong-minded and very blunt. She always said what was on her mind. She had the most contagious laugh and the best humor. Her presence was very comforting and she lit up any room that she would walk into.

She was nonjudgmental and was the person would go to for comfort and advice. She always found joy in doing things for people she loved. Starting at a young age Janai stepped up and took on the motherly role of raising her younger siblings whom she loved very much. She was the rock of her family and everyone close to her. We are losing a daughter, granddaughter, sister, and an amazing friend who was loved so much and will be missed more than words can describe.

She is survived by her mother LaToya Lone Bear, Texas, Brothers- Omareant Russell, Tacoma, WA, Royce JD Lone Bear, Mandaree, ND Sisters- Maralee Lone Bear and Summer Leigh Russell of Las Vegas, NV. Grandma Verna Lone Bear, Mandaree, ND Grandpa LeRoy White Singer, Mandaree, ND. Uncles Tyrone Lone Bear, New Town, ND, Marlon Lone Bear, Church’s Ferry, WV and many other cousins and other relatives.

Lone Bear Family, May the tender mercy that God has always shown be with you now so you will know that you are not alone. May the prayers of others help in some small way to bring you strength, comfort, and courage for each day.

I met Janai when she was in the 7th grade, she came to a summer basketball league I conducted here in Four Bears. Right away her positive personality and attitude were very evident, she was easy to be around and she had loads of basketball potential. Thank you Lone Bear family for raising such a great influence, Janai left a positive impact on all of us.
