I remember Vern coming to Tioga High School's basketball games and being a bright light of encouragement to players and also their families. Let us never forget his example of what a word in due season can do to bring hope back even during a dark North Dakota winter.

My uncle Vern was an absolute treasure.
He loved deeply, and rejoiced in the connections he had with so many people.
Memories are many, but never enough, sadly.
A tremendous loss for the Holte family.

Well Vern, we brought you back to your home where you grew up from your home in California which we knew you loved. You will be laid to rest at the Temple cemetery north of the farm in the. Lot you picked out the last time you were back..i will remember the good times at the farm The 3 brothers playing ball on the Diamond we built in the yard (Duane was the architect of that made the bases out of oldie digging them down in the ground, one of us would pitch one catcher and one batter. Then in the winter move up to the barn loft where we had our basketball court moving the hay from the front of barn so we had room to play The time you asked Duane where did Daryle go I went in for a layup and fell thru the screen door that was below the basket Laying on the frozen ground you thought it was pretty funny (I didn’t I was hurting) Then lastly you and I spent our money and had the Big Barn painted new windows and the big H on the door I had fell thru many moons ago. My sympathies to all your CA friends and your friends at home and all your Tioga Pirates Friends You will be missed Your family will miss you big time, RIP Vern Your Bro Daryle
