He was our dearest best friend. He will always be in our hearts. He absolutely loved the people of Lambert and planned to never leave?? he never left Derek’s side. He was an honorable and courageous person and teacher! He will be tremendously missed!

Kurt was a true 'Happy Warrior' - positive, joyful and not a mean bone in his body. I was blessed to be his cousin and I saw Kurt overcome adversity many times in his life through sheer determination and positivity. He refused to be beaten! Kurt always had a smile on his face and laughter in his heart. Love you, buddy, and I'll see you on the other side!

We were blessed to have known Kurt. He was a true friend to us, and to our entire family. We miss him already. We know he'll be in attendance, right next to us, at the next concert. We love you buddy...and we'll save you a seat.

Kurt, You and I were always best when we talked teaching, music, travel, food and childhood/youth. Weren’t we cousin? That gave us plenty to chew over—tirelessly. Didn’t matter place—Milford, Conn., Tucson, Crested Butte or Lambert, and after that hike in CB 6/2016—didn’t matter altitude! You were a member of a select merry band of people in my life, gone now but not forgot, never that but ever heart always soulful and unceasingly mind. Love you cousin!!

That was a beautiful service today. Something Nancy said struck a chord with me. Kurt was always kind and compassionate, no matter what. Even when people were mean to him, he took a high road. I will miss him.
