One of my favorite visits back in 1999.
Sending my thoughts and prayers. Ruth is so special and I will always cherish the Memories of visiting the farm, her cooking and listening to her stories. On my last visit with her in 2019, she gave me good advice on relationships and happiness. Heaven has been blessed with a true angel!

Your family has my condolences--like all the Bertinuson's she was kind and giving. I was pleased to have met her when I traveled to Watford City with my friend, Shirley Bertinuson. I'd like to make a donation in her memory-please let me know. Darlene Hamady

Your family's loss gives thought to the passing of an era that we share. Our families paralleled for more than a century, coming from Norway and homesteading in McKenzie County. I send my condolences to her family and wish all of her survivors my best.

Ingrid and Deanna,
I am so saddened by the passing of your mother. She was a great neighbor and a true friend to our family. We will miss her so.

By way of background Ruth's mother-in-law, Ingrid (Arkjer' s mother) was my great grandfather Oscar Forland's sister. Both immigrated to the US from Norway at the turn of 1900s to seek fame and fortune in Western North Dakotas as it was last tract of land in the lower 48 states that was opened for Homesteading. Growing up around Watford City, I knew Ruth and Arkjer as well as Ruth's in-laws fairly well. In later years I started writing weekly letters to Ruth that related my life in Iowa' which she enjoyed reading very much. I will miss the weekly contact with Ruth and I will miss Ruth. My brothers (David and Pete) and I visited Watford City in the spring of 2018. We stopped by to see Ruth -- what an amazing intellect and a very classy lady. This was the last time we saw her. My best to the Rolfson family.

Our condolences and sympathy. I remember Aunt Ruth fondly from my childhood trips to North Dakota with my grandfather Edward Bertinuson.
