I am so sad to hear this. Such great memories from all our church activities growing up. Loved our retreat for confirmation to Stenslie’s and Johnson’s cabins. He played a very important part of my growing up! Sending hugs and prayers to you all! May all your wonderful memories help you through this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know what it’s like to lose someone you love to this horrible disease. I remember wonderful times at our cabin with your family next door. One particular memory about Jim was when my sister, as a toddler, Keri would take her clothes off when she was down at the lake and Jim would come over and let my mom know that she was down there without any clothes on :-) lots of love to you all

My sympathy to you all at the passing of Jim. Toni and I got to know Pedar and his family at Heart River and through them feel we came to know Jim and the gift he was to us all.
The promise of the resurrection is the hope of our calling we all share in our baptism in Christ. We yearn for that day and the blest reunion with Jim.

Our sincere condolences to all of Jim's family. Pr. Jim officiated our marriage ceremony and Norma played the organ. As a member of Heart River Lutheran Church, I am blessed to have known Peder, Tone-Lise, Solvei, Kristian and Johan during their time there. Thinking of all of you during this difficult time.

Jim was instrumental in my faith journey. He was my confirmation teacher during a time when Keene was waiting on a call. I loved listening to him tell the story of Jesus and enjoyed learning from him. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Pastor Stenslie was such a genuine person. He helped Kari with her confirmation classes.
I shared a story with him about his mother when she taught my sister Cindy and I in first and second grade. He teared up when I told him of her act of kindness. It still brings tears to my eyes. He was so much like his mother Marion. He will be dearly missed.

I am saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. Jim and Norma were two of the nicest people I had the pleasure of delivering ups packages to. In the winter months, it meant parking at the top and walking down the hill to see what Jim was building next! He shared many stories and showed me the many things he had made. I was truly amazed by his talent and ability. He will be missed by many.
Norma and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Rev. Stenslie was with us when my mom died and as she drew her last breaths, he said words of comfort that commended her to God. One week later he was the pastor at our wedding at Trinity of rural Ambrose.
I have always remembered his kindness through those difficult days.
Blessed is his memory.

I was so saddened to learn just today of the passing of Pastor Jim. My parents were among the founding members of the Heart River Lutheran Church. Through them I met this wonderful first pastor of the little church. I will always remember him as the warm, kind, gentle man in his simple pastoral robe who greeted me as a visitor and meant so much to my parents. Later, after he had moved on, I became a member and so appreciated the teachings of his son and lay pastor, Peder. My heart goes out to all of the family. May peace and happy memories be yours always.
