I met Helen when my Mother-in-law became a resident at EMVH. After Covid closures they sat at the same table. We lost Mom over a year ago. But, I help with the Sunday evening church services there, so I continued weekly visits to the Vet's home.

I find each of the residents to be very special and I hold them in my heart. But sometimes one will sneak into your heart and find a special place there. Helen did that.

She used to refuse my invites to church, but willingly accepted my hugs and often said she loved me. I loved her, too and she assured me she was friends with Jesus. Helen loved to sing and several months ago finally began accepting my invitation to church.

Sometimes, I do the speaking at these services, but when someone else spoke I would take the chance to sit with her and hold her hand.

That's what I did on Sunday Feb. 12th, I am so glad I did because last night I was alarmed when Helen wasn't at her spot in the dining room and after rushing to her room, no longer found her name on the door. My dear friend, Helen, passed from death to life on Thursday. I will miss you until we meet again.

Take the chance and love the people in your life. They need it. You need it.

My sincerest condolences, thoughts and prayers to Helens family. I worked with her at Mini Mart, what a lady and no question how much she loved her grandchildren.

Helen was a dear friend and I am heartbroken that she is gone. Seeing her every Sunday was a highlight of my day. When I met her several years ago I thought she hated me but one Halloween I was at the Vets Home with my grandma, I was dressed as a Roman soldier and I sat next to Helen. She talked to me and teased me and we became friends. I got to see her every Sunday and would sneak up on her in the dining room. She always told me that I didn't get her but I told her I would get her next time. I would give her a hug and sit next to her to ask how she was doing and if her food was good. I'm sad that I won't see her on Sundays anymore but I love her and she brought so much joy to my life. Until we meet again.
