One of the World’s best mechanics has left the Shop! A serious void now looms about us! I will always Appreciate the personality that Al showed to everyone. He never turned away from no one. He was always so Edgar to fix and repair your problem! Two years ago I videoed an interview with Al while he was helping Sonny Anvik get all of Con Cayer’s JD tractors running for the auction. I will always cherish that interview! We’ll never forget you Al! You the one if a kind!

We are so sorry for your loss. When my parents moved to town they enjoyed having Al & Rachel as neighbors. It was always nice visiting with them over the fence. Thoughts and prayers to you all.

Dad, I can’t express how much I will miss you! We had some good talks and I loved your stories you use to share with us. You had such a sharp mind all the way to the end! I was always amazed at how you could work numbers and remember dates, even from events way back when. You were a tough man but you touched many hearts!!! Can’t wait to hear another joke or smarty pants comment when I see you again! Forever treasured!
I love you so much!!

Dearest Dad,
I love you muchly! You had a softness and tenderness in your heart that did not go unnoticed, especially the past few months. As we reminiscence about your many adventures in life, we find ourselves waking up each day saying, we forgot to mention this about dad...you were a jack of all trades and good at them all. You were a very wise man and we will miss you greatly and deeply. RIP, Iron Man! Go rest high on that mountain.
Your daughter,
Robin Swenson

Dear Rachel & family,
We’re thankful for our friendship.
Being involved with Al in tractor pulls,& displaying them was a lot of fun. One of the highlights for me was teaching Al to fly! What a great experience!
He was my”Go To” mechanic for years! If I ever needed anything done;he was on top of my list. I don’t think there was ever a time when we got together that we didn’t discuss who made the best pickup;Dodge or Chevy! By the time the discussion was done,it always ended up in a draw!
I valued his friendship highly.
We’re out of town & sorry to miss his funeral.
We’re praying for you.

Sorry for your loss. Wanted to say that my father, Eugene Wind, must have worked with Al at Gem City. He always had to ask Al what he would do when it came to questions about the motor rebuild of my 69 Corvette. Dad had a lot of respect for Al and his mechanical knowledge.
