Lonnie, So very sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. I worked with your Dad & you in the Oilfield, boy what a bunch of great stories told. Allen was a great guy & will be missed by many. Now he will be with all the great walleye fisherman in the big sky above. RIP Big Al.

To The Family Of Allen Iverson,
I have known Allen for 60 years.
I lived a block away from Allen growing up. He lived on 5th Avenue, across the alley from Gary Satterfield, and I lived at the corner of 4th Street and 4th Avenue. My cousin Linda Anderson lived a half block west of my house, and practically backed up to the alley behind Allen’s.
We first met in grade school at Webster Elementary, which is no longer there. But the memories are. Webster had a gravel yard we played softball and kickball together. After school we played baseball at the park 1 ½ blocks to the east along 2nd Street.

I was a skinny little kid, but Allen had plenty of muscle and speed, and I remember him “parking” the balls he hit over the trees at the field we played in. And then he would laugh that big laugh he had.

I attached our class picture from 4th Grade. Allen is front and center, and I am the skinny kid with glasses to his left. Wish I was still skinny. Wish I still had that hair. All I kept was the glasses.

Though I haven’t seen Allen in many years, I will always remember his friendship and character, and that big smile and laugh that he had. I hope he passed that on to you all.

They don’t come any finer…
