Melvin was the sweetest of my Dad's (also Mel) brothers. The good don't always die young. I have absolutely no doubt that he is feeling so much love where he is now. May the family be comforted.

Uncle Melvin was the sweetest, kindest, loving person I ever met. I am so thankful that I was able to spend some quality time with him during our visit to Beulah in 2016, as well as during the cousins reunion that he put together before then. I so enjoyed his monthly (and sometimes weekly) phone calls. His voice sounded so much like my dad’s (Melford). I will miss his calls checking on me and the family, but I know he is now in the presence of the Lord and with his beautiful bride. Love you, Uncle Melvin.

Brian and Torgerson family,

The obituary was a wonderful tribute and definitely reminds me of everything I remember about Melvin. His devotion to his family, sports, the school kids, was remarkable. And his professional business career at the elevator was essential to provide needed services to many, many farm families in our community.
I know this is the time to remember Mel, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention Margaret. I've been away from the community for many years now, so all my memories are of Melvin and Margaret together, including when Margaret babysat me, Brian and Doug when we were just little kids (darling well behaved kids, I'm sure!!). Anyway, at this time, I think of them both and glad they are reunited. Prayers with your family,

Craig Smith
