My heart is broken--sending sympathies to all of Arlenes's family. She had a heart of gold. She was without a doubt one of my Best employees when she worked for me at the Post Office. I was so very thankful for her as an employee and as a friend.. She loved her job, she loved people, and we loved her dearly. God took her from us to soon. I pray God wraps his arms around you and gives you Peace.

I am so sorry to hear of Arlene's passing. It has been many years since I lived in our little neighborhood, but I will always remember Arlene as being one of the sweetest people. When I would be home to visit with my mom the last few years, we would occasionally run into her at a local restaurant and it was fun to catch up with her. A beautiful person who has left us too soon.

Rarely is our mental, physical and spiritual strength tested as we experience the loss of a loved one. Your mom was a friend of my moms for years. Loved it when she would stop by for coffee and they would enjoy each other’s company so. She could mingle in with any crowd with her friendly personality. Going to miss that smile in the community for sure. Think how she must be wishing that we could know today that nothing but our sadness can really pass away. Think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched and for nothing loved is never lost and she loved so much.

When I think of Arlene the first thing that comes to mind is Pioneer Woman! The true grit and passion it took to make a life on a cattle ranch in western ND is unmatched! A story that sticks with me is when I stopped into visit while we had been working down on her ranch pumping frac water. She asked if I could haul in some cat food to the house. No problem, just go to grab it out of her backseat. She had an axe laying on the floor in the backseat alongside the cat food. I chuckled and asked Arlene, “what’s the axe for?” She just started laughing, “Oh I stop and chop ice for the cows on the creek sometimes” Amazing at 70 some years old! She chuckled some more and said she was in town with one of her girlfriends as she called her friends she would have lunch with. She said they saw a suspicious man walking by and they thought well what would we do if he tried to hassle us. Arlene said well at least I have my axe laughing! That story along with many others she shared about life on their ranch will stick with me forever. From seeing her tame a raccoon that came up to the porch she would feed. Stories of horses they used to have to talking about her old Jeep and tractors that rest on her place that had a special memory to her. Or asking what flavor of chew I had on me for the day. Another time she wanted me to fix her 4-wheeler so she could drive down to the river! I managed to avoid aiding her spirit of adventure by side stepping the conversation cause I figured she didn’t need to be riding a 4 wheeler to the Little Missouri at 70 some years old. Although we all knew she was very capable - more than most people. In the same thought It was that Pioneer spirit that lived inside her that was truly an inspiration. She enjoyed the company of morning coffee and I enjoyed the stories of what seemed like a simpler time on her ranch, always sending me on my way with fresh baked goods for the crew. She will be missed but not forgotten!
