In 1972 I was a Navy Seabee. I knew Gordon when we where in Amphibious Construction Battalion 1. He was a 2nd class petty officer then (E-5). I worked for him for a while, (I was E-2). He treated me well and was always fair and just. My friend and former shipmate Andy Silvko called a short time ago and told me Gordon had passed. The last time I talked to Gordon was more than a few years ago over the phone. We shared many memories as those where interesting times. The world seemed so simply then. Times have certainly change over the years. I know Gordon made E-6 and retired. As he said to once when we where in the Navy, “I”m waiting to grow pig tails and reclaim my Indian heritage. He got his 20 yrs, he made it. Congratulations Seabee on a job well done. My sincerest condolences to the family and his friends. Rest In Peace my friend.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I spent a lot of time at the Falcon residence growing up. Gordon always seemed to have a smile on his face but I was still a little scared of him because he teased me relentlessly. I know he’s a great loss to his family but he’ll will continue to watch over them. He will be missed by many but always remembered.

I have not seen Gordon since our days at ACB-1 in Coronado, CA. in the mid 70s. It really caught me off-guard when I searched for him tonight and the first thing that came up was this obituary. I was hoping to maybe reconnect with him. I worked for Gordon for a short time building a dam in the mountains east of San Diego. He was a great man to work for. He made the job fun and interesting. He was one of those men that just never seemed to have a bad day. My prayers go out to his family.
