Gene and Colleen- we are so sorry for your dad’s passing. Uncle Gordon was the most laid back man I ever knew. There wasn’t a mean bone in his body! I remember the talks we had when he worked at the Sidney Cenex store. May he Rest In Peace.

Colleen, Gene and families.
I had the pleasure of working with
Gordon. I'll never forget, when I was first hired he was very good at showing me what and how to do things. He once told me, "I've forgotten more about this place than you could ever learn" and he was right! He was a good man that loved his family and adored his wife. They were the cutest couple. I will always treasure the memory of your Dad, he was one of a kind.

I worked with "Gordo" as i called him at Cenex in Sidney for about three years on my summers and Christmas Breaks home from college and then after i graduated until i moved. I loved working with him! I will never forget when "Some Beach" would come on the radio and he would tell me that was 'his song' or that "his give a damn was busted", too when we'd hear that song playing. I still think of him whenever i hear those! It wasn't unusual to come around a corner and catch him doing a little jig. His quiet demeanor and sharp, unexpected sense of humor were great. He wrote the nicest, short little note on my goodbye card when i left Cenex and moved.
Gordon was a gem and i'm glad i was able to know him! My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Sorry for your families loss. I remember both Gordon & Irene as kind, fun, and generous people when I would visit with my ex-husband Gerald Berndt.

Gene, Like so many people have written, your Dad was a quite gentleman, yet always had a twinkle in his eye. It was always good to see him when we were home and filled up at the COOP. He had to be a saint busing us yahoos around like he did. Our condolences to you and your family. It has been way to long my old friend.
