I am so sorry to hear of Vera's accident and passing. I talked to her just a few days ago at Reynolds and she was explaining to me about her black eyes and severe bruising from the fall she took at home while working out on her deck. She told me she was leaving for SLC and was hoping the weather would be OK. She has always been such a bubbly ray of sunshine and never a cross word from her. She was a sweetheart and will be missed. My sympathy to Rhonda and all of Vera's family. God bless all of you.

Vaya con dios, Vera! It is hard to think of Vern and Vera without starting to sing that song since the last dance of the night when they played for dances was always Vaya Con Dios which means "Go with God" and I am sure Vera will do just that.

I knew Vera for a short period of time, but in those few visits i got to know her well and always liked her smile and presence she will be missed. I'm sure her husband in Salt Lake wished he could have seen her once more...although she's in his heart and has many memories of her i'm sure. God bless her and her family in this time.

So very sorry about Vera, we were sitting here talking about how excited we were that she would be coming back to Salt Lake City, how much we had missed here this summer and couldn't wait for her return. Then we heard the news. She was always so very sweet, smiling, and offering generous compliments to everyone around her. You couldn't help but smile when Vera walked in the room. We are all so sad and shocked. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mel and all of Vera's family and friends. She will be missed but never forgotten.

To Vera's Family,
You won't know us, but, we knew Vern & Vera in the 50's through our mutual interest of playing music in Sidney (Triangle Club) and Williston (Moose Club),(State Line Club), etc.
We were called the Range Partners--a group of four (Chuck & Cathy Ellis and Don & Audrae Howard). We spent some off work time enjoying Chucks famous BBQ Ribs and some sharing of our music experiences. They both were such nice people---we have an 8x10 black & white photo of their trio. What good memories we, too, have of them.
We learned about her tragic accident from a friend who still gets the Sidney Paper. I'm sure they are now singing together again. We offer our condolences to the entire Family.

Dear Ronda and family,

Words can not take the pain away you are feeling, but please remember the Lord is there to help you and your family through this time of sadness.

Even though I have only met your mother a few times during the years, I will always remember her smile and the happy-go-lucky attitude she had. I always had a smile on my face after her visits.

As time goes by the hurt will be a little less, but the memories will become even more powerful and great.

God Bless and Love Always,
Lorie and Nathan Hillstad

I first met Vera in 2004 when she came to SLC for the winter months. It was such a pleasure to work with such a bright, cheerful person who had such a great outlook on life. Vera you will be missed deeply by all of us!

Ronda and family, so sorry to read Vera's obit in the Gazette this morning. (I just saw her leaving Pamida last week in the Dishon Electric pickup and thought to myself about how she always kept herself up so well, and she looked perky as always.) I'm thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.

We were so sorry to hear about Vera's accident. We use to dance to her and Vern's music at triangle years ago. They were both so active in church and such a joy to visit with. We always enjoyed seeing her at Old timers in Fairview and that is where we met her present husband. We enjoyed our friendship with her and our thoughts and prayers are with you all. To the family of Vera

Vera and I were high school best friends and kept in touch over the years. We always sent each other our love and hugs every time we talked on the phone which was less than two weeks ago. My heart goes out to her husband Mel and her family. I know we will all miss her dearly and she will always be in our hearts and prayers. May God Bless. Grace

I am so sad to read about Vera. She was a joy to be around and I always enjoyed visiting with her. Through years of living in Sidney, I had the pleasure of getting to know a few of the Daschaak family members personally and my heart goes out to them.

Sincerely,
Carter Hasselstrom

10/21/2009 Tim & Betty Darr (Bigfork, MT)
We will always remember the warmth and sunshine that Vera spread wherever she went. What a special lady who knew how to love! Tim will never forget the hours spent at her house when he was a child, watching "Roy Rogers" and having a warm and comforting place to go after school. One of Betty's first memories of moving to Montana was meeting much of the Darr/Dishon family at Vern and Vera's 20th Anniversary celebration in Sidney. Quite a few years later, we were thrilled to have them visit us in Bigfork, where Vern rode one of our horses while wearing a suit, tie, and cowboy hat! Vera watched nervously but beamed proudly. Our love and prayers are with you all.

Rhonda and family,
We were so sorry to hear about Vera's accident. We had such fun with Vera and Vern over the years and when we lived in Utah we would stop to see them when we went to Salt Lake. We enjoyed those visits. They were so kind to let us stay in their house in Sidney when Jim was up taking the gas plant down. We stopped by the house this Summer when we were in Sidney, in hopes of seeing her but she must have been gone. Our prayers are with you.
Jane & Jim Forthun

I knew her husband Mel very well. We worked together for almost a year. I am SO sorry to hear about her passing. If she was anywhere near as wonderful as her husband (and I'm sure she was!) she must have been AMAZING! Mel, I hope you read this & know my thoughts and prayers are with you!
12/26/2009 Jeff and Judy Dschaak (Boise, Idaho)
We were truly sorry to hear of Aunt Vera's passing, and could not attend the funeral. We send our heartfelt sympathy to family. Aunt Sandie did kindly provide some photo's of the gathering at her funeral.
Judy and I last visited with her in the Fairview church basement at my father Norman's funeral. I guess that every minute we spend enjoying life is also bringing us closer to the family reunion above, so there really are no sad days.
