To Steve's Family,
I am so shocked to hear of Steve's passing. I did not know that he was sick and I didn't realize he was so young. He was so totally dedicated to Mandaree and it's school system. I taught at Mandaree School in the year 2000-01 and I truly enjoyed it, it's school system, the kids and staff, and all the support I got from Steve as the principal. He certainly helped a lot of people in his short life and is a legend of his time. He was a great man and he handled a lot "well" in his career. I know how hard it must be for you as a family. My prayers and thoughts are with you. I am now teaching at Cannon Ball, N.D.

Learning of Steven's passing was a shock. My sincerest condolences to Steven's family. It was just 2006 when we attended the Columbus reunion and has the opportunity to reacquaint. As a teacher he leaves a legacy to all those whose lives he touched. May God bless and keep you during this difficult time.

3/16/2009 Bobbi Rae (Sage) Ranger (Pinon, Arizona)

I was very shocked to hear the passing of Mr. Serdahl. My family and I would like to send our condolences out to Steve's family. Steve was my principal in high school at the Mandaree Public School. I will always remember passing him in the hallway between classes and he would give me a "High Five" while he passed by! I will forever appreciate the support he gave me in everything I did. May his Memories live on and never be forgotten! He will always be remembered as MY favorite Principal in high school!!

Steve was my first cousin. My family and I enjoyed visiting Milo, Olga, Gary and Steve in the summer. I enjoyed riding Steve's horses. He was a special person and will be missed.

3/16/2009 Jery (Jerome) Douglas Serdahl (Medford, Oregon)

Many memories of extended family vacations from Minnesota to N.D. to see my cousin Steve and his family.......camping out on Olga's living room floor, in the camper, driving through hords of locust & dust storms to visit, nearly loosing my upper lip to a milk bottle & crate, the 120 mph thrill ride to the hospital, eating eggs, eggs, eggs, riding Steve's horse, it was huge, but I was 4, going to the picture show in Columbus, & listening to our Dads & Moms sing & play all the instruments in our extended musical family. Great times to always be remembered until we meet again cuz!

3/16/2009 Gene Molden (St. Cloud, Minnesota)

Steve was also my first cousin and we had only began talking and communicating over the internet the last 2 years or so and found many intersting things to pass on to each other. We havent seen each other in a number of years but did' nt take us long to catch up. I will surely miss him and his sense of humor and style. My deepest sympathy to his family and may God comfort you in thse difficult times Gene and Linda

3/18/2009 Margo Salak Huber (Bismarck, North Dakota)

To Steve's Family...I was married to Harry Salak who was a teacher with Steve at Mandaree School from 1972-1976...long time ago! I couldn't believe it when I read that he had passed away...I am so sorry. He was such a nice guy. We had such a good group of young teachers that cared about the kids and each other...I feel so bad. He and Harry are probably visiting already...Harry passed away in 1983 from Cancer...too young. Please take care and I am thinking about you...

3/18/2009 Doug Wurtz (Bismarck, ND)

My sincere condolences to Steve's family. I have many fond memories of Steve from our college days at Minot State, during his tenure as director of the Linha Art Gallery in Minot and our visits in Bismarck after he moved to Mandaree. Of course, at that time we didn't call him Steve...he was "Stubby" to us.
I know that Mandaree was where he was meant to be and I know that he loved every minute of his years there.
He will be deeply missed.
Doug Wurtz
