It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Ella "Pete" Larsen
November 15, 1921 - March 19, 2019

Place of Birth: Sidney, MT
Residence: Sidney, MT
Age: 97

Ella Fern Obergfell "Pete" was born November 15th, 1921 to Isadore Phillip Obergfell and Jean (Hatley) Obergfell on the family farm across from Crane, MT. She was the 5th child of 9. Pete attended Gosset School and graduated from Sidney High School. While attending school she worked at the movie theater. She married Herbert J Larsen on September 9th, 1942. They had seven children. Pete and her family moved out to the family farm in the late 1950's. They raised their children on the farm until they sold it in the 1970's, moved back to Sidney and bought the Club Tavern. They sold the Club Tavern in 1979 and bought the Hobby Shop which they sold in 1982.

Pete enjoyed working in the garden with her husband and was gifted at canning food, especially pickles. She had the best recipe for Angel Food cake that can be found in the Obergfell family cookbook. One of her favorite past times was crocheting and she was famous for her All-Star tennis shoes. She was also talented at making afghans and doilies. This tradition is being carried on by her granddaughter April Andersen. Her and her husband never missed a day of the fair and always had several entries where they won too many ribbons to count. Pete and Herb enjoyed traveling, and their favorite was the yearly trip to Black Hills, SD.

Pete lost her travel partner on August 3, 2008. She continued to live at home with the help of her son Steve Larsen. After a few years it became more difficult for her to remain in her home so her daughter Shelly Larsen moved back in with Pete on November 9th, 2010. This allowed Pete to remain in her home until July 1st, 2016. She spent the last 3 years at the Extended Care Facility where she gained another family as she was impossible not to love for her sass, wonderful sense of humor, and her grit.

Pete is survived by: sons, Steve Larsen, Sidney, MT, Doyle “Tarz” (Val) Larsen, Edgewood, NM, Clayton “Babe” Larsen, Billings, MT; daughters, Myrna Anderson, Denver, CO, Shelly “Buck” Larsen, Sidney, MT, Kelly “Pug” (Forrest) Markle, Sidney, MT; a sister Viola "Bliff" Kappel (who lived 2 doors down at ECF), Rosemary "Jen" Larson, brother Jake Obergfell, and a brother-in-law David Larsen; thirteen grandchildren and Sixteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

Pete was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Rhonda Gelbman, granddaughter Geri Anderson, great granddaughter Shelby Anderson, great grandson Jacob Anderson, brothers Sant and Tim, and sisters Mae, Dot, and Bun.
