May 17, 1927 - March 14, 2019

Place of Birth: Sidney, Montana
Residence: Billings, Montana formerly of Sidney, Montana
Age: 91

Audrey O. Sampson died on March 14, 2019 at TenderNest Assisted Living in Billings, MT with family at her side. She will always be remembered as a woman of great strength and determination with a sweet and caring heart.

Audrey Elizabeth was born on May 17, 1927 in Sidney, MT to Nels and Alice (Hansen) Olesen. She attended Sidney Public Schools and graduated in 1945. After attending college, Audrey spent her working career at Cresap and Lalonde Law Office in Sidney as a legal secretary.

In October 1948, Audrey was united in marriage to James Sampson. They had two children, Timothy Ray and Laura Ruth.

Audrey’s garden was a great point of pride. Other passions included dancing, walking, exercising, and Friday night dinners at the Moose. Rumor also has it that she was the oldest “first recital” clog dancer. She participated in volunteer activities at Pella Lutheran Church and enjoyed her favorite “job” at Sidney’s “Good Cents Store”. In her later years, Audrey enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She also enjoyed the new friendships that were made at TenderNest.

Audrey is survived by her son Tim (Marsha), Billings; her daughter Laura (Arvid) Haugen, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; her grandchildren, Scott (Jenna) Sampson, Corpus Christi, TX; Charles (Sara) Sampson, Montana City, MT; Amy Haugen, Bloomington, MN; Erika (Jess) Crassweller, Blaine, MN; Kristin (Nathan) Ross, Pewaukee, WI; her sisters Betty (Harold) Propp, Billings, and Jane (Robert) Doran, Billings; seven great grandchildren and special friend Guido Vaira.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, her brother Robert Olesen, her sister Shirley Wind, her sister Elsie Eschenbacher, and an infant brother and sister.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 25 at 11 am at Pella Lutheran Church in Sidney with Pastor Audrey Rydbom officiating. Visitation will take place from 10 am until time of service. Internment will follow immediately after the service at Sidney Cemetery under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home
The family will be forever grateful to the staff at TenderNest and Stillwater Hospice for the care and support they provided.

I was sad to hear of Audrey's passing. She was a strong, dedicated and wonderful support to my father, Paul Cresap. She was a great support staff and a wonderful friend. I remember her always sweet and smiling face when I would walk in the office door starting when I was just a little girl. She put up with me working as a "student secretary" one summer and never said a word as I tore copies out of the typewriter a number of times to start over typing whatever. She will always be a part of the memory of that office across from the theater. My sympathies to Tim and Laura and their families. Sue (Cresap) Simmons

I was very sorry to see Audrey has passed on. I have missed her this Fall and Winter at the gym where I first knew her in step aerobics and as a fellow exerciser. She enjoyed visiting with the other ladies and having coffee after a good workout. Always happy to visit and share a smile.
