Kenneth Peterson, 77, of Bismarck, formerly of Tioga, ND, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck, ND.

Kenneth Ellsworth Peterson was born on December 6, 1941 in Hallock, Minnesota to Harry and Alvina (Eilertson) Peterson, he was youngest of six children. He attended school in Halma, Minnesota before moving in 1952 to Tioga, North Dakota.

Kenny enjoyed a lifelong career working as a tool pusher and rig operator for KMB, Prather, NL Well Service and at one time had his own Roustabout Service. He also farmed and ranched north of Tioga for over 20 years. Kenny was widely known for his hard work and getting the job done.

He married Deanna Blikre in October of 1961 and would be blessed with three children, Bradley, Kimberly and Kathryn. He married Sheril Nygaard in September of 1991 and gained numerous step children and grandchildren. He was a loving father and dedicated grandfather. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren. Kenny enjoyed racing cars, traveling, hunting and weekend family fishing and camping trips. He also had a long lasting love of playing cards, especially pinochle.

Kenny’s sense of humor will never be forgotten by his family. He will always be remembered for making them laugh and for the mischievous grin he always had.

Kenny is survived by his son, Bradley (Leisha) Peterson and their children, Levi, Casey, Latosha, Jordan and Londen; his daughter, Kimberly (Darren) Garhart and their children, Zachary, Britney (Sean), Kelsey and Ashley; his daughter, Kathryn (Chad) Christensen and their children, Trevor (Emily) and Alexis; his great grandchildren, Kynzee, Rypp, Avni, Isaac, Grayson and Sienna; his brother, Verlyn (Marvell) Peterson; his sister, Darleen (Eldo) Johnson; many nieces and nephews; his wife, Sheril and her family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Ellsworth; brother, Darrell Peterson and sister, Elayne Thompson.

It saddens me to see that Kenny passed away. I always got along well with Kenny, and he always treated me good for a young man trying to make a go of it in the oil field. Old Rig 22. I know he had a lot of down sides in his life, and I hope he made peace with those. I wish I had known he was here in Bismarck as I could have went and talked to him enlightening him with some old rig stories. God Bless and Godspeed.
