It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Juel Holmen
July 19, 1930 - September 8, 2018

Residence: Powers Lake, ND

Juel was born on February 19, 1930 to Martin and Martha (Myhre) Holmen and was raised on a farm south of Powers Lake. His first paid job was washing dishes for 50 cents a day. He started his oilfield career doing pipeline on the Discovery well near Tioga. He married Esther Edwards on August 17, 1954 in Zahl, North Dakota. They were blessed with 2 children. Summers were spent in Powers Lake farming and winters took the family in the early years to several towns in Montana and Wyoming looking for oil.

The family settled back in Powers Lake to farm and ranch in the early 60’s. The late 60’s and 70’s took them to Arizona for the winters. Juel continued to farm and work rigs in the 80’s. From then on he was happy to farm which he did until he was hospitalized. In his spare time you would catch him at the casino.
He enjoyed traveling which took him to several states and had memorable trips to Norway, Disney World, Jamaica and Hawaii.

Those honored to share Juel’s life are his daughter Audrey (Rick) Thorlaksen, son Greg (Lisa) Holmen ; seven grandchildren Becky, Judd (Cayleen), Michael Thorlaksen, Tara Holmen, Ashley (Aaron) Skarsgard and Nikki (Lynn) Heinle; Cassandra (Adam) Marden; great grandchildren Cooper and Sawyer Skarsgard, Maycee Copeland, Hudson Heinle and Stella Thorlaksen ; sister Myrtle McGregor; sisters-in-law Carol Holmen and Jeanette Haffner. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Juel was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two grandchildren Richard and Jana Thorlaksen and three great grandchildren Oliver Skarsgard, Brinley and Avery Thorlaksen; two brothers Archie and Manley.
