Mrs. Lupe Vallejo Chambers passed away peacefully Sunday morning, August 12, 2018 at the age of 87 at Emory Johns Creek Hospital in Georgia. Born on December 14, 1931, Lupe was originally from Savage, MT, the daughter of Desi and Paula Vallejo and the oldest of ten children (Christina Finnicum,Elisa Olsen, Lydia Wandler, Andy Vallejo, Victor Vallejo, Esther Sorensen, Lola Herbert, Roy Vallejo, Margaret Seigle). In the mid-1950s, she met her first husband, Harold Yelle (1930-1971), working as a nurse in Taunton, MA. While in Massachusetts, she raised her ?rst son, Harold Yelle II of Raleigh, NC. Lupe married her second husband John Chambers (1930-2003) in 1960 and raised her three sons Harold, Eric Chambers of Raleigh, NC and David Chambers of Atlanta, GA. After raising her children she return to nursing for 15 years working at Women’s Prison and then Peace College in Raleigh until she retired. She always remained active in her community and church, loved to play bridge, interpreted for the Latino community, collected for the needy, made ?ower arrangements for the church and loved the Lord.
In 2015, she moved to Atlanta to join her son David and his wife Wendy and their children, Jacqueline and Kevin and his wife, Joanna Chapin, of Concord, CA. Surviving grand-children of her son Eric and his wife Wendy are John and Samantha. Surviving grandchildren of her son Harold and his wife, Donna, are Aaron, Rachael, and Kathleen and her husband, Daniel Bergevin and their two children, Anne and Rob of Washington, NC.
