Leon C. Enget
July 25, 1942 - June 1, 2018

Place of Birth: Powers Lake, ND
Residence: Powers Lake, North Dakota
Age: 75

Leon Clifford Enget was born July 25, 1942 to Clifford & Theodora Signe (Ostby) Enget in Powers Lake ND. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Powers Lake where they raised cattle, horses, and small grains. Leon attended country school until the 8th grade and then Powers Lake High School where he graduated in 1960. He would always make sure to talk about how they were unbeaten in football during his high school years.

After graduation, Leon attended Molar Barber College in Fargo, ND. He worked as a barber in Dickinson and then Crosby ND, where he met the love of his life, Elouise Mae Holm. Leon and Elouise were married on September 19, 1964. They moved to Powers Lake where they raised their family, owned and operated Le-Els Barber and Beauty Shop, farmed, and raised cattle and horses. Leon was proud to have served in the ND National Guard for 6 years. He was employed at Amerada Hess for many years and barbered in Lignite until retirement.

Leon was very involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives and activities. He enjoyed watching them all play sports, compete in horse shows and rodeos, or just spending time with them on his farm. Leon loved all children and would entertain them by wiggling his ears, which would sometimes cause a ruckus in church. He enjoyed woodworking and built many items for his family. Leon was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church, Jaycees, Lakeside Arena Corp, Powers Lake Saddle Club, and White Earth Valley Saddle Club. In his younger years, he and his brother Allie trained many horses. He also enjoyed team roping with his good friends, especially his roping partner Bob (Swede) Blomquist. He had a great sense of humor and loved playing practical jokes on friends and family. Leon passed away at Trinity Hospital on June 1, 2018, surrounded by family, after suffering a stroke.

Leon is survived by wife Elouise (Holm) Enget, his children Lance (Dixie) Enget of Bismarck and their children Ashley Iverson, Jacey Enget, Lane Enget, Teri (Rick) Carlson of Powers Lake and their son Clay (Taylor and baby) Carlson of Powers Lake, Calley (Travis) Paul of Rochester MN and their children Henry, Charles, and Andrew Paul, Ryan (Dayle) Enget of Powers Lake and their children Tianna, Trista, and Kal Enget, and great grandchild Noah Trauger, his sister Peggy (Mike) Schmitz, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Signe Enget, his siblings and their spouses Sharon (David) Alexander, Allie (Maureen) Enget, granddaughter Lindsay Trauger, nephew Chris (Bubba) Enget and foster child Ross Hilsman .

I remember Leon as he was a devoted Powers Lake Rancher fan of girls and boys basketball. I always asked him "how has Clay been recently". You all will be in my prayers. My utmost sincerity of sympathy be with you at this time. Leon is with you in spirit as in the lyrics of Lonestar , a country music group in their song " I'm Already There". I urge you all to listen to this song to bring comfort in your families.

So many fond memories of times with the relatives on the Enget farm between White Earth and Powers Lake. I can't picture Leon's face without a smile and hearing his infectious laugh. It is a sad day to be reading Leon's obituary. May his memory live on in all of our minds.

Dear Eloise & Family, I am so very sorry to hear this sad news. Hold onto all your memories, good & the not so good ones. Trust me, you will eventually find humor in the not so good ones, and you will love the good ones. Remember that he will be your angel on all ya'alls shoulders, watching, cheering you on, & protecting you.
God Speed Leon.

Our condolences again to Leon's family and friends. In my earlier post I referred to John working with Leon in Williston but it was in Tioga that John worked with and developed a friendship with Leon while working together at DOTCO. He will be greatly missed.

I have great memories of staying at the Clifford Enget home during the summer month. Seems like Leon, Allie and I never ran out of things to do; sometimes not thinking through before acting. Leon was full of fun, but also kind and caring.
