Bob was born December 6, 1933 at Mercy Hospital, Williston, ND to Vernon and Lola Sandry. Bob was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, was a Boy Scout, and attended Williston Schools. In 1947, at the age of 13, Bob suffered 3rd degree burns on his mid-section while spraying weeds at the, now known, Williston airport. He was in Mercy Hospital one week shy of a year. Bob had many visitors during this year and also 54 blood transfusions, 346 penicillin shots, and 17 skin grafts. After Bob learned to walk again, there was no stopping him. He loved anything related to a motor. Bob always had a new car. Bob married Elaine Severson on November 28, 1959 at the Knife River Lutheran Church south of Stanley, ND. In 1960, they went to Denver, CO where Bob attended Mercury Outboard Motor boat mechanic school. They then returned to Williston, and for the next 43 years, Bob worked for Burlington Northern Railroad, as a Clerk, and also during this time had a part-time job at; Creighton’s Boat Shop, Basin Tools, and farmed with his Dad running 50 head of cattle. He built, worked, and was part owner, in the Lewis & Clark Boat Marina. Bob continued to work on motorcycles, lawn mowers, and boats for the next 50 years. Bob had triple bypass surgery in 2008 and in 2015 he survived Esophageal G cancer. He enjoyed motorcycles, snowmobiling, watching his children rodeo, walleye fishing, playing cards, woodworking, marbles, and shuffleboard. No one was a stranger to Bob. He enjoyed visiting with everyone! Bob’s positive attitude, support of others, and grace for life, was posed his whole life.
Bob will be missed dearly by his wife of 58 years and their four children, Kelly (Donna) Cody, WY, Sue (Bill) Foley, Denton, TX, Sandy (Tim), Willmar, MN, Tim (Kim), Clara City, MN. He had 7 grandchildren; Shae, Rusty, Haylee, Annie, Ole, Will, Taylor and 4 nephews in Montana. Bob was preceded in death by his Parents, brother, Bill, and sister, Shirley Ray.
