Ray Guimont was born on July 2nd, 1934, in Manning, ND, to Herman Guimont and Georgianna Plagge Guimont. Ray grew up in Elbowoods and Killdeer N.D. In July of 1953, Ray married Eunice Benson and together they started ranching and farming on the Guimont homestead. In 1962, Ray and Eunice purchased their ranch south of Mandaree where he was a cattleman for 36 years. Ray retired in 1998 after suffering a stroke.
Ray loved the Lord and was strong in his faith. He built a church on his ranch and held Sunday services for the community. During his free time, he enjoyed traveling to revivals and fellowshipping with friends. Ray also loved woodworking, hunting, and telling old time stories. Among some of the things he built was an old fashioned log cabin in the badlands on his ranch.
Ray is survived by his wife Eunice Guimont, Mandaree N.D.; sons, Arnie Guimont, Mandaree, N.D., Cletus Guimont (Marcy), Craig, Colorado, Sherman Guimont (Ramona), Denver, Colorado; daughter, Marmie Sales, (Alan), Apache Junction, Arizona; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Ray was preceeded in death by his parents, Herman and Georgianna Guimont; sister, Faye Lonefight; grandson, Jason Guimont; granddaughter Sa'Rayna Bird In Ground; and daughter, Margo Stops.
