Juanita Mae Bailey
February 4, 1924 - April 4, 2018

Place of Birth: Pasco, Washington
Residence: Sidney, Montana
Age: 94

Juanita Mae Bailey was born on February 4, 1924, to Harold and Willa Odessa (Simmons) Shaw in Pasco, WA. She passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at the age of 94, at the Sidney Health Center Extended. Her father died when she was young and her mother when she was 10. Her brothers raised her and then she moved to Butte with Pauline, her sister. She met Leonard Shea there and was married in Anaconda, MT on October 1, 1941. To that union two daughters were born, Susan and Lynne. They lived in Walkerville except when she went down south when Leonard was in the service. Leonard died in 1966. A year later she married Ray Bailey in Texas. They lived in Walkerville and then moved to the flats. She always believed Butte was her home. She worked at Fred and Millies, and sewed for the cleaners and the penitentiary in Deer Lodge. She made dance costumes, wedding dresses, curtains and everything everyone wanted sewed. She loved to fish with family or Dorothy. She was really good at it! She would sit for hours waiting for a fish, and was good at catching them, even when she was older. She had 22 surgeries, 3 of them cancer, and was a survivor. Broke her heart when she had to move here, but like I said she was a survivor. She loved the kids coming to her little apartment which she really liked. She moved to extended care 8 years ago. She lived a long hard life. She was a mom, grandma, great grandma, and great great grandma.
After spending the last month with you sometimes day and night I realized how much I loved my Mother. You fought hard and lost. I will always love you Mama. Love you to the moon and back.
She is survived by: her two daughters, Sue Kortes, Sidney, MT and Lynne (Mike) Buie, Tacoma, WA; her younger sister, Edith Baker; five grandkids, Lenny Kortes, Melanie (Rodney) Hurley, Bryon Buie, Justin (Shannon) Buie and Lacey (Nick), Buie-Delaney; 18 great grandchildren, Blayne (Loren) Kortes, Raymond (Stephanie) Kortes, Ty (Katie) Hurley, Cassandra Kortes, Brady Kortes, Timothy (Alyx) Hurley, Trisha (Ike) Hill, Torrie Hurley, Addison Kortes, Ashton Delaney, Gabrielle Buie, Laine Delaney, Branden Buie, Conner Buie, Teagen Delaney, Quin Buie, Tierney Delaney, and Paige Buie; six great great grandchildren, Braylon Kortes, Zaelee Kortes, Brody Kortes, Aaliyah Hill, Zurie Kortes and Kolt Hurley.
She was preceded in death by: her two husbands, Leonard Shea and Ray Bailey; four brothers, Henry Shaw, Roy Shaw, Harold "Bugs" Shaw and Claude Shaw; two sisters, Frankie Shaw and Louella O'Della; two grandchildren, Christopher Kortes and Richard Kortes.
