It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Myron Irvin Wold
May 17, 1935 - March 20, 2018

Place of Birth: Banks, ND
Residence: Rural Watford City, ND
Age: 82

Myron Irvin Wold, was born to Melvin and Inga (Lofthus) Wold on the Wold Ranch in Banks, ND on May 17, 1935. Myron attended grade schools in Twin Valley Township and graduated from Watford City High School in 1953. Myron also grew up as a member of the Banks Lutheran Church, where he was still a member at the time of his passing. While in high school, Myron participated in football, basketball and track. He was quite the athlete and enjoyed watching all kinds of sporting events throughout his life. After high school, Myron worked on the family farm until he joined the US Army, where he served from 1957 to 1959. While serving in the Army, Myron was stationed in Germany. Myron moved to Fargo, ND and attended Concordia College after his service in the Army. Myron met the love of his life, Darlene Martin, while he was living in Fargo. The two were married on August 12, 1962. Myron then worked for General Builders & Ekland Brothers Trucking in Watford City until 1964 when they moved to Crary, ND and worked on Darlene’s folks’ ranch. In 1970 Myron, Darlene and family moved back to Watford City to take over the Wold family ranch where they continued to live until the time of Myron’s passing. Myron served on the North Dakota Beef Cattle Improvement Association board and the church parish council in Crary, ND. Myron had a deep passion for all things farming and ranching from a young age. He took pride in the family’s operation and could spend hours going through the fields and pastures checking on the crops and cattle. He was especially excited to see red angus cattle return to the ranch a few years ago when Shawn and Zach got herds of their own. He enjoyed driving the ranger around checking on things and was always sure to let them know when a cow looked lame, the fence was down, or if a new calf had been born. Not much, if anything at all, got past him when it came to the cattle. He was quite the horseman, too; whether it was riding to roundup cattle, going on a trail ride with family or catching the horses for the grandkids to ride. His passions were something he was very proud to pass on to his children and grandkids. Myron and Darlene retired from farming and ranching in 1998 and enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and wintering in Donna, TX. A few of Myron’s favorite things were green tractors, red cattle and having the opportunity to have his whole family together for different occasions. Myron always had a smile on his face when he was spending time with his kids and grandkids and could always be counted on to be one of their biggest supporters in whatever they were doing. Myron was always so grateful for the people in his life. Whether it was family calling or dropping by, a good conversation with a friend, or someone he had do some work for him, he would often end the conversations by saying “thanks ever so much”.
Myron was proceeded in death by his parents, Melvin & Inga Wold, mother and father-in-law, Mildred and Robert Martin, and son, Randy Wold.
Myron is survived by his wife, Darlene, children, Dianne (John) McDonald of Hastings, MN, Marna (Darius) Frick of Watford City, ND, Janelle (Wes) Frederick of Flasher, ND, Shawn (Tera) Wold of Watford City, ND, sister, Bev (Norris) Hildre of Minot, ND, grandchildren, Zane, Zach (Marit), Reese, Serena, Hunter, Landon, Lane, Bryce, CJ, Robert, Jed, and great grandchildren, Rhen and Avery. Myron is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

It was with sadness I read of Myron's passing. The country lost a good one with him. He was one of the funniest and nicest people I ever had the privilege of working with. He and Darlene were a pair that with memory still makes me smile.
