Robert "Bob" Allen McGinnis
December 15, 1934 - March 9, 2018

Place of Birth: Fairview, Montana
Residence: Sidney, Montana
Age: 83

Bob passed away peacefully on Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Sidney Health Center surrounded by family.
People would describe Bob as a very resourceful and creative individual both in his pursuit of a career and in his personal life. While his first known love was acting, he turned his focus to other interests around automobiles, airplanes and machinery. He could fix anything and often farmers and people with foreign vehicles would call upon his handy service. If you were lucky to be a visitor to his farm, you would find a vast collection of automobiles, farm equipment, and other treasures on his property. Bob's children remember finding him always "tinkering" in his shop being very innovative in creating alternatives to traditional methods of mechanics, which gave him an abundance of happiness in his life. Nothing was an obstacle for him when it came to mechanics.
Bob was born December 15, 1934, in Fairview, MT, to Ernest and Sylvia (Randolph) McGinnis. He spent his early years in the Sioux Pass area and had fond memories of family outings in Cherry Creek. He graduated from Sidney Senior High School in 1952 and then attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, pursuing foundational studies in theatrical and studies in ministry. He returned home and took over the family farm when his father became ill. In addition to farming, he pursued his passion for mechanics and even obtained his pilot license. Over the years he also worked as a farm equipment and car salesman, State Farm insurance agent, Frontier Airlines manager, and most recently owned and operated Mondak Auto Sales and his pallet recycling business. When he wasn't at work, he often drove the school activity bus, loved to garden, and enjoyed his many coffee groups throughout the years.
Bob married Dorothy Pickering in October 1956. They had five children together Becky, David, Colleen, Crystal and Brian. Later in life he met and married Joyce McKellar Cestnik in October 1991. They spent a lot of time traveling in the motorhome with their dogs and spinning around the dance floor any time they could. They shared a love for polka, making it a focus for their travels.
Bob is survived by his children Becky (Bruce) Johnson, David McGinnis, Colleen (David) Williams, Brian (Patti) McGinnis and Crystal (Rich) Carlson and step son Doug (Natalie) Ray; 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce McGinnis; his parents, Ernest and Sylvia McGinnis; sister, Lulu Armstrong; brothers, Marion, Resley, Maynard and Ralph McGinnis; step daughters, Patty Miller and Debra Kaufman.
