Ruby Beatrice Skarphol, 82, passed away February 24, 2018, at the Tioga Nursing Home, Tioga, North Dakota.
Ruby was born on October 5, 1935, at the family home north of McGregor, North Dakota. She attended school in McGregor and graduated from McGregor High School in 1956. She lived with her parents in McGregor until 2011 when she moved into an apartment at the Tioga Medical Center Independent Living and later into the Tioga Nursing Home. In the last years of her mother’s life Ruby considered it her mission in life to serve as her mother’s caregiver, which she did most faithfully and lovingly. Ruby exhibited the love of Jesus in the friendly, caring, and loving way in which she interacted not only with her family but also with everyone she met. She enjoyed doing handwork and became very accomplished, particularly with her embroidery.
Ruby is predeceased by her parents Jacob Theodore (aka Jacob H.) and Clara Alice (Harbig) Skarphol, two infant brothers, Jacob Charles and Harold Wallace, and her brother-in-law David Burtman.
She is survived by her brother, Robert (Diana) Skarphol, Tioga, ND, and her sisters Jean Nitschke of Bismarck, ND, and Ardella Burtman of Mesa, AZ, and seven nieces and nephews.
