Melvin Rodney Hill

Melvin was born on May 7, 1941, in Sidney, MT the son of George and Olga (Kohlman) Hill. He grew up and attended schools in Lambert, graduating from Lambert High School in 1959. After graduation Melvin work on the family farm and he also worked for, Walter Buxbaum, on the V-A Ranch. He also worked as a seismographer and worked in the oil field on work over rigs. Melvin was inducted in the United States Army in October of 1963 and was honorably discharged in February of 1964. He finished his enlistment with the Army Reserves while he worked on the family farm. Melvin was united to Audrey Howe on August 7, 1965 at the First Lutheran Church in Lambert, MT. They made their home in Lambert while they built their home on his family farm. Melvin also worked in the oil field, on work over rigs and he was a driller on drilling rigs while still working on his farm. In the early 60’s Melvin ran a rural Lambert mail route, and then he and his wife, Audrey, ran the mail route for a total of 40 years. In the early 80’s Melvin became a licensed Water Well Driller and drilled wells for his neighbors and friends. In 1989-90, Melvin started working campaigns at the Holly Sugar Factory in the Wet Hopper department and retired in the early 2000’s.
Melvin enjoyed restoring old John Deere tractors, fishing, visiting with his neighbors, and working on his farm. He also enjoyed driving around checking out the oil wells.
Melvin died on Monday, October 2, 2017, at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home in Glendive, MT.
Surviving him are: his wife, Audrey Hill, Lambert, MT; his sons, Kenneth (Darla) Hill, Clinton Hill, Gary (Tara) Hill, all of Lambert, MT and Howard (Dixie Sexton) Hill, Fairview, MT; his daughter, Vickie (Pete) Gierke, Billings, MT; his brother, Donald Hill of Arizona; 6 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, 2 brothers-Leonard and Arnold, and 2 sisters-Helen and Lola.

Condolences to Clint, Howard and the rest of the Hill family. Worked with Melvin at the factory, you never had to wonder what was on his mind. May he Rest In Peace.

Sorry to hear this dad need. I've known Melvin for many years and was always a good visit just to hear him complain and cuss. RIP Snuff!!!
