It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Richard Buxbaum
June 22, 1931 - September 17, 2017

Place of Birth: Bayard, Nebraska
Residence: Sidney, Montana
Age: 86

Richard Buxbaum went to meet his heavenly father on Sunday, September 17, 2017. Richard was born on June 22, 1931 to parents Henry and Molly (Meyer) Buxbaum in Bayard, NE. His family moved to Sidney, MT in 1935 when he was three years old. He attended school in Sidney until he was needed on the farm. On February 13, 1955 he was united in marriage to Luella (Bauer). They made their home south of Sidney and continued farming until his retirement. They have been married for 62 years.
Richard was a member of the Ebenezer Congregational Church for all of his life. He served on the church board, was an usher, went faithfully to Bible study, and sang beautifully in the church choir. He loved to bowl in his younger years and was a life time member of the Moose. He was on the Board of Directors for the Montana Dakota Beet Growers Association for many years.
Richard was a very hard worker and so as not to be idle during the winter months, he ran scoop at the sugar beet factory for many campaigns and fed calves. He loved to work with his hands and so woodworking came naturally to him. His many friends and family benefited from his skilled projects. After retirement gardening became his passion. He loved to plant, harvest, and share his vegetables with family and friends. Raising prize onions that would hardly fit into a men's baseball cap and a 22# watermelon were some of his greatest joys.
Richard enjoyed following his grandchildren's 4-H and sporting events. At 85 years old he could be found laying on the floor playing with his great-grandchildren. He had a kind and tender heart that touched his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In his last years as he dealt with health issues, he showed how strong he really was and his absolute faith in God. He absolutely loved the tender loving care that his hospice team gave him and we, the family, are so thankful for.
Together Richard and Luella had four children: Sheree (Bob) Albin, Sidney, MT; Denice (Ron) Treloar, Gillette, WY; Kevin Buxbaum, West Hollywood, CA; Kelvin (Carolyn) Buxbaum, Sidney, MT; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sisters, Mollie Asmus, Torrington, WY; Katie Wahlstrom, Alexander, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Molly Buxbaum, his in-laws, Herbert and Ida Bauer, his brother, Harold Buxbaum; younger brother Henry Buxbaum; nephews, Jeff Buxbaum and Mark Wahlstrom; great nephews, Eric Buxbaum, Patrick Buxbaum, and Jamison Wahlstrom; sister-in-laws, Darlene Borders and Shirley Goldsmith, brothers-in-law, Bennie Bauer and Irvin Asmus.

So sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your families.
I remember my dad, Shorty saying, "When Richard starts farming, it's time to start farming." Richard seemed to be the pace setter in the area. The community held him in high regard-a great legacy.
