Vance Gerrick Neset
December 18, 1973 - July 14, 2017

Place of Birth: Tioga, North Dakota
Residence: Williston, North Dakota
Age: 43

Vance Gerrick Neset was born December 18, 1973, the son of Leanne Neset Abelmann and the late Roy Neset in Tioga, ND. The family lived in Tioga until moving to Sidney, MT in 1976. Vance was active in his early school years playing football and enjoyed playing hockey in high school. He graduated from Tioga High School in 1993.

Vance loved his times that were spent with his son, Zachary, with his family, and his cat he simply called… Kitty. Vance was a great dad and dedicated as much of his time as he could to Zach. He took pride that his son loved hockey as much as he once had and was very active with teaching and helping Zach succeed. They were often found together riding snowmobiles and shooting guns.

He was quiet, kind, generous, and loyal to a fault. Vance had a lot of friends with whom he took pleasure riding motorcycles and had just recently joined a motorcycle club called “The Bastards”. However, in the winter months Vance’s passion would change to snowmobiles. Vance took many trips to the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming and locations in western Montana riding snowmobile with his brothers and friends. Vance was talented and daring on a snowmobile.

Over the years, Vance has worked many different types of jobs. He worked for various farmers, the Ray Elevator, and Nabors Drilling before finding his niche. For the last 12 years, he was employed by Neset Consulting Service as a mudlogger and a gas technician.

He is survived by: his son Zachary Neset, Williston, ND; his mother Leanne (Dan) Abelmann, Alexander, ND; step-mother, Kathleen Neset, Tioga, ND; sister, Pati Clausen, Bismarck, ND; brothers, Roy Neset Jr., Randolph (Melissa) Neset, both of Tioga, ND; nieces, Amy Dalin, Paige Clausen, Mykenzie Clausen, Mia Neset and nephews, Zane Clausen, Luke Neset and Cason Neset.

He was preceded in death by: his father, Roy Neset; his grandparents James and Iris Melberg and Betty and George Neset.

Vance Shared his condo with me for a while in Williston, ND. You could NOT have asked for a better Friend, I don't think he ever knew just what his Friendship meant to me. I am so shocked and saddened by losing Vance. I want you to know that I am thinking and praying for his entire family. He was quite the Vance. I remember throwing hay bales with him, playing darts once in awhile with him and hanging out with a few friends at his place (he had the hot tub!) He was a quiet guy but fun to be around. It was fun to make him smile! He will be missed by many.
