Julie Ann Clark
April 4, 1962 - May 24, 2017

Place of Birth: Williston, ND
Residence: Williston, ND
Age: 55

Julie A. Clark, 55, of Williston, ND, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, Wednesday afternoon, May 24, 2017. Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Williston is assisting the family.

Julie Ann Clark was born April 4, 1962 to Linda and Jerry Selby in Williston, ND. She grew up on a farm near Buford ND and graduated from Trenton High School with the class of 1980. Julie went on to UND-Williston and graduated with an Associates degree in 1989.

On June 24, 1989 she married Alan Clark and they made their home in Williston ND.

Julie began working at UND-Williston as an administrative assistant, where she enjoyed helping and talking to students for 12 years. She then accepted a position with the Williams County Disaster and Emergency Services continuing her desire to help others.

In 2004, Julie was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. Ultimately, she needed to retire. This didn’t stop her from living her life to the fullest. In her free time she enjoyed doing yard work and planting flowers in the garden. Her heart of gold couldn’t let her pass up the opportunity to save ANY stray or hurt animal she came across. When she wasn’t in the yard or with the grandkids, she would spend most of her time rocking out, camping, or in her Mach 1 Mustang.

She is survived by her husband Alan; son, Matthew Clark; Daughter, Kimberly Clark; Grandchildren, Landon John Sim, Ava Lynn Arnson and Ashton Marie Arnson ; Parents, Jerry and Linda Selby; brother, Michael (Shelly) Selby of Woodbury ,MN; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; her beloved cat, Bubbles; and her two dogs, Baby and Gunnar.

Julie is preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Lynn Clark; her maternal grandparents Martin and Clara Haug and paternal grandparents Homer and Alice Selby, father-in-law John Clark and numerous aunts and uncles.

I want to share this poem I wrote in 91' in honor of Julie, a beautiful spirit that will be truly missed.

Silent Whispers, Precious Love

Silent whispers flourish everyday
like the wind swirling across the open plains.
They flow wildly through our minds
as we take notice of the loved ones around us.

Like the day you watched your wife
give birth to your first child.
To those times long ago, when your eyes glowed
as your father taught you how to ride a bike.

Like learning to cook with your mother
teaching you the secrets, like her mother taught her.
To the dozen roses left beside the bed
left by your husband, for no reason except being yourself.

They come and go as free as the wind
sailing through our minds, like ships of memories.
For with every act, or quiet memory
brings a silent whisper of precious love.

Allan, Matt and Kimmie...... I am beyond words of sympathies to you and all your family and friends. I am so deeply saddened to hear of your loss, our loss. Julie and I had been best of friends for a long time. As the years went on and life changes took over we drifted away a bit. I will always remember the fun times and the hard tiemes she and I shared with each other. I've missed a lot since leaving Williston and have thought of her often. She was was very good person inside and out. She's gone physically but not spiritually.....she'll always be there for you all..... Fly free as the angel you are my friend and know you are loved, JoAnne

Alan, I am sorry about the passing of Julie. I enjoyed working with Julie for all the years she worked at WSC. She worked so well with students and had such a marvelous memory. I would often walk into her office area and asked for information about a student. I could not remember the student's name. Julie would ask me to describe the student and all I had to do say, the student was a blonde and talked a lot. She invariable gave me the name of the student, it was uncanny.
Julie was also so upbeat and lifted the spirits of those working around her. She will be missed.

I am very sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one in death is such a difficult thing to experience. Please be comforted by the promises in the Bible. Jesus tells us at John 5:28, 29 that all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. What a loving provision put in place by the God of all comfort so we can have the assured hope of seeing our dead loved ones live again one day. Meanwhile as I pray for that day to come I ask Jehovah God to bless your family and give each of you the strength to endure this most trying time.

Alan, Matt and Kim - I am so sorry for your loss. I got to know Julie when I worked at the college in the mid-90's. What an amazing woman she was! I always admired her for her resilience in hard times, her always positive personality, and her kind and caring heart. She wore her heart on her sleeve, and would do anything for anyone. The students were like her own kids, and she would help them out whenever she could. The world has a little less sunshine today with Julie not in it. My deepest condolences.
