Marilyn April Wald, AKA Rusty and the Fortress, 73, died March 8, 2017 at her home, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born April 3rd 1943 to Irene and Sigwald Haugen in Williston North Dakota.

In 1961, she married Paul Hawkins and had 4 children. James, Jerome, Angie and Brady. They divorced in 1968.

She remarried in 1971 to Wesley Holm and had 4 children. Tammy, Michelle, Melanie and Melissa. They divorced in 1980.

She remarried in 1987 to Robert Wald.

She enjoyed fishing, knitting, bingo, casino’s and their bright lights, watching the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, her flower garden, baking goodies, playing cards and teaching her grandchildren to play pinochle.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Sigwald Haugen, Paul Hawkins, Wesley Holm,Robert Wald, her son Jerome Hawkins, her sister Janiece O’connel, her brother Darrell Haugen, her brother Pete “Gerald Engel and her brother Vernon Engel.

She is survived by her son James Hawkins, daughter Angie Jacobson (Larry Jacobson), son Brady Hawkins, daughter Tammy Knudson (Mark Knudson), Michelle Horob (Jay Horob), daughter Melanie Petersen (Jamie Petersen), daughter Melissa Holm, 28 grandkids, 7 great grandkids and many adopted kids along the way as she always had an open door to all the kids and their friends.

I am so sorry for the families loss. She was a good mama. I remember her fire. She was so funny and kind.
Melissa, you are lucky to have such a wonderful mama. God rest her soul. May she forever be a peace and in the presence of our Lord and savior.
