It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Lawrence David Alexander
June 27, 1936 - January 27, 2017

Place of Birth: Williston, ND
Residence: Epping, ND
Age: 80

L. David Alexander, 80, of Epping, ND, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home in Williston.

Dave was born June 27, 1936 to Verla (Bingeman) and Charles Alexander in Williston, North Dakota. Dave was raised south of Epping and attended school at Epping Public School. As a child he contracted Polio and despite the handicap, was active in baseball, band and basketball. Upon graduation, Dave attended NDSU for a semester; however he felt the need to be back in his home town. In 1960, he met Sharon Enget and they were wed September 15, 1962. Three children were born; Michael, Michelle, (Shelly) and Melissa (Missy). In 1965, the family moved from Williston to the farmstead south of Epping and raised cattle and horses and farmed small grains.

One of Dave’s favorite pastimes was watching the Epping Eagles play basketball, when his children were old enough to play Dave rarely if ever missed a game.

Dave served his community by residing on many boards: Epping Lutheran Church, Buffalo Trails Museum, Epping Grain Elevator, Epping Farmers Union and Epping Lions. One of Dave’s favorite events was holding the annual Epping Lions softball tournament every fall. He also enjoyed following his daughters softball team and never hesitated to do some “arm chair quarterbacking”.

Dave’s pride and joy was his “spoiled rotten” herd of cows. There were always a few rank ones in the herd and when one would send anyone to the safety of the fence his favorite saying was “Oh they’re just playing with you”. His birthday was always celebrated with the annual working of the cows with many friends and family.

In Dave’s later years he had a passion to see that the children of Epping had playground equipment to play on. He always had a grin when he heard how much the kids enjoyed a new piece of equipment. One of his greatest joys was the birth of his granddaughter Malia, she certainly had “Pappa” wrapped around her finger.

Dave is survived by his wife Sharon Alexander, Michael, Shelly, Melissa (Miguel) Irizarry, and Granddaughter Malia Arreola. Sisters; Karen (Larry) Smith, Durelle (Pat) Hatlested and Lucille (Loren) Olson.
Thank You
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Paul, Holly and Luke Sagesar along with Leon and Elouise Enget.
