Joann Green, 86, of Williston, ND, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston. Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Williston is assisting the family. Joann Norma Ohnsager Green went to be with her Lord on January 7, 2017. She was born at home in Rawson, ND on March 30, 1930 to Selmer Invold and Glenna Louise Rud Ohnsager. She was baptized June 6, 1930 at the Rawson Lutheran Church and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alexander, ND.
Joann started her education in Rawson until moving to Alexander with her parents in 1939. While attending high school in Alexander, she worked with the school paper, “The Comet”, played on the girls basketball team, and worked at the Ohnsager General Store as a soda jerk. Her college education included a year at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and a year at Minot State Teachers College.
She began working at the American State Bank in Williston, ND in 1950. On December 29, 1950 she married Doyle Lawrence Green, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alexander, ND. They resided in Williston for the remainder of their lives, even though they maintained and operated a farm in McKenzie County. She kept busy playing in a couple of Bridge Clubs, bowling, serving as a 4H assistant leader, and holding various offices in the TOPS ND 48 club. In Later years, she was very active within Our Redeemers Lutheran Church being part of the Quilting Ladies and serving as a Deacon. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and quilting. She presented quilts to each of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as numerous others. She took pride in presenting denim quilts made by the Church quilting ladies to the high school graduates who were members of the Church.
She took great joy in watching the growth and development of her family. She is survived by daughters Kari (Scott) Wiley of Chambersburg, PA and Jan (Brian) Forsberg of Williston; four grandsons Adam (Allison) Wiley of Morris, IL, Michael (Kat Kolumban) Wiley of Champaign, IL, Justin (Natasha) Thorlaksen of San Antonio, and Ross Forsberg of Fargo, ND; great grandsons Andrew Wiley and Aden Howcroft; great granddaughters Stacyn Thorlaksen, Layla Thorlaksen, and Bella Howcroft; and adopted granddaughter Kari (Steve) Zeier and their children Grace, Nora, & Finn.
She was preceded in death by her parents Selmer and Glenna Ohnsager, husband Doyle Green, and son Mitchell.

I am so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. I knew her well. She loved to quilt. She asked me to pray for her son, Mitchell , when he was so ill. We would eat breakfast at Gramma Sharon's once in awhile. I am in California now visiting my daughter so will be unable to attend her service. God bless her memory.

Its been seventy years plus, when Joann livened up Alexander High School with her giggles and grins. So, Squeaky, it was fun growing up with you, and maybe we can meet again in the hereafter.
