Residence: Williston, North Dakota

Richard B. “Dick” Coughlin, 73, of Williston, North Dakota died suddenly on Thursday morning, September 29, 2016, while attempting to do what he most enjoyed – meeting his friends for a round of golf.

Dick was born on February 4, 1943 to Raymond “Corky” Coughlin and Mary Hougen Coughlin. Dick spent most of his life in Williston and will be remembered by many as a very good athlete. He excelled in baseball, basketball and bowling, and anyone who bowled with or against him knew what a competitor he was.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother.

Dick is survived by his wife Kris and two sons, Aaron and his wife Nicci, their son Brady and their daughter Marice and her husband Seth; Mike and his daughter Elizabeth “Sissy” Odom, her husband Casey and their daughter Alexa. He is also survived by his sister RaeAnn and her husband Gary, and numerous nieces and nephews. Grandpa Dick was very proud of his grandchildren and loved having them around.

Per Dick’s wishes no formal service will be held. The family will gather for a brief time to say goodbye to Dick.

There will be an open house at Dick and Kris’s residence: 1409 1st Ave East on Saturday, October 1st, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm for friends to stop and share memories of Dick with the family.

Dear Kris & family, we were so surprised to hear this news. We will always remember Dick with that twinkle in his eye & smile on his face. One of my favorite Dick memories was back in the spring of 84, our Aaron had just been born & I wasn't quite up to going out & about. Dick knew what a Vikings fan I was so he stood in a long line with a whole bunch of kids to get Tommy Kramer's autographed picture for me....what a sweetheart. We will not be around tomorrow night, but will give you a call sometime. Asking God to hold each of you close during this difficult time

Kris and family: sorry for the lateness of this, just now found the guest book. Good memories of growing up across the hallway from your apartment. And of course bowling at the two lanes in Williston. My condolences at your loss.
