Damon...Words will never do justice. You were a friend I could always count on. We could always lean on each other for any issue life threw at us. I'm proud to say I was your friend, and my heart is absolutely broken that I cannot be with you this week. I promise you, I will come and visit you the next time i'm home, I only wish we could have visited more throughout the years. Your heart was big and behind everything, you were the most caring, goofy, kind, and gentle person. Until we meet again my friend, in the great field with a flowing river. I will miss you until that day.

My dear friend, I know you would find it funny me writing back so soon, but I was able to work things out, and I'll be there.

I can't believe this. Damon with his laughter. I've known Damon since I've known Anna from the University of Minnesota. So many years.
It's hard to put into words the emotions right now. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Damon, peace be upon you.

Damon (you will always be Fritz to me), I am so sad that you are gone from this earth so soon. I will always remember your laugh, your huge smile, and humor. You are gone too soon and I wish your family peace in the days head and comfort in seeing a piece of you live on in each of your children.

To your family- my dad and brothers learned Tae Kwan Do with Calvin and were sad to hear of his passing. I was a classmate of Fritz in Underwood and through Facebook had the privilege to chat again with Damon in the last several years. His messages always made me laugh and his love for his children was clear as well as his pride for them and his son bearing his best friend's name. Martha, my heart aches for you as a mother. Our family was privileged to know both of your kind, gentle sons. We mourn with you and offer our prayers to you all.

PS the school pic of Damon is how I will forever remember him with that ear to ear, and gently mischievous smile.
Blessings to you all,

Kary (Reule) Gillenwaters
