Arvid William Scott, 82, (also known as Scotty), passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Sierra Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. He was born April 6, 1933 in Killdeer, North Dakota to Vernon and June Scott.

Arvid grew up in North Dakota, he attended a country school and in his younger years he worked on various area ranches. He worked for the Medora Park Service, Hilling Construction of Williston and the USPS as a mail contractor from 1968-1996. Once retired, he spent winters in Texas. Arvid joined the Army in 1956, he was a Specialist in Transportation and served overseas.

Arvid was united in marriage to Mary Ann Madsen at Gillette, Wyoming in September of 1963.

Arvid was a member of the Williston Moose Lodge. He enjoyed rodeo, collecting guns and antiques, as well as spending time at the local coffee house with his good friends. Arvid also enjoyed being involved in the lives of his be! loved grandchildren.

Arvid was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann, his sister, Joyce Stude and daughter, Joyce Merkel.

He is survived by sons, Jeff Merkel and Jerry Merkel of Washington; daughters Lorraine Emineth of Washington, Lora Scott and Shelly Scott of Texas; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ariann Scott of Minnesota.
