Mabel L. Iverson, 86, of Grenora, ND, died Monday, November 16, 2005 at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston, ND.
Mabel L. Iverson was born on the family farm in Barr Butte Township, South of Grenora, ND to Henry and Ragna (Johannsen) Hoff on August 26, 1923. She was raised on the family farm and first educated at the Fischer School and Graduated from Grenora High School in 1941. Mabel worked for a time at the Triple A office in Williston. She then entered the United States Army in the Women’s Air Corp on November 11, 1943 at Minneapolis, MN and was raised to the rank of Corporal. She was honorably discharged at Patterson Field, Ohio on January 13, 1946. Mabel returned to Grenora and was soon married to Roger E. Iverson at Sidney, MT on June 17, 1947. The couple made their home in Grenora where they raised their family.
Mabel worked as a bookkeeper for the local Farmers Union for 41 years. Mabel was always willing to help out where ever she could for the betterment of Grenora and served on many boards and committees over the years, Mabel may have been Grenora’s first Tupperware salesperson.
Mabel loved life and shared her ideas with many. She enjoyed having fun and brought laughter to all her knew her. She was a baptized and confirmed member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, active in Church activities and the Community. She was a member of both the American Legion Auxiliary and American Legion. She enjoyed sitting on her deck, drinking coffee with friends, her plants, knitting and jigsaw puzzles. Mabel will be missed by all.
She is survived by her children, Keith and his wife, Denise, of Williston, ND, Kay (Greg) Garaas, and Karen Iverson, of Grenora, ND; her brother, Marvin Hoff, of Grenora, ND; five grandchildren, Sara VandeStreek, Courtney Johnson, Erin Grefsrud, Kyle Phelps, Dalton Weeks; one great-grandchild, Henry VandeStreek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; one grandchild, Sammi Eline Weeks; four brothers and five sisters.
