Delores (Del) was born on October 22, 1925 in Blaisdell, ND to parents Theodore and Gunhild (Skare) Evensvold. She was raised on a farm south of Blaisdell, ND with her brother, Tom, who was one year younger. Together they walked the railroad tracks into Blaisdell to attend grade school. Del and her cousin rented a room in Stanley to attend high school. Del excelled as a typist which landed her a job working for the city attorney. After graduating at age 17, she continued the job until she met Vern Kallevig. Vern was a Sidney native who was working for John Deere in Stanley, ND. They married on December 19, 1947. Their first daughter, Lin, was born in 1950. Vern and Del moved to Sidney where Jackie was born in 1953. Del was hired to work in the Welfare Office where she was a receptionist for over 19 years. She was a very social person who treated all people with utmost respect.
Del enjoyed walking, bike riding, reading and hosting backyard barbeques. She had a great sense of humor. Family gatherings were especially important to her. Del was a wonderful mother who made sure her daughters were able to participate in every activity or club, with her never missing an event. Birthdays were a huge deal. Her two saddest days were in 1989 when Vern died suddenly, and in 1996 when her dear daughter was taken. Despite many years of serious health issues, Dell was a fighter and feisty to the end.
Del died peacefully on Monday, October 26, at the Sidney Health Center Extended Care after a long, hard fight.
Del is survived by: her daughter Lin (Jim) Noble, Fairview, MT; son-in-law, Art Paulson, Cartwright, ND; granddaughters, Becky (John) Yadon, Idaho Falls, ID, Michele (Bernie) Olson, Williston, ND; great granddaughters, Jalyn Paulson and Abigail Yadon; great grandson,, Uriah Yadon, a brother, Tom (Ardyce) Evensvold, Tagus, ND; and a special friend and aide, Jodi Johnson.
