Vera was taken suddenly from her family and friends on the evening of October 14, 2009 in a single car accident near Dillon, Montana. She was in route to Salt Lake City, but the Lord knew it was time for her to come home to him and other family members. She was born on March 13, 1931 in Rural Fairview, McKenzie County, North Dakota to Henry and Frieda Beyl Dschaak, the 2nd child of 11 children. In the 78 years of life, Vera grew from very humble beginnings to experiencing life at its fullest as was God’s plan. She developed her skill and love for many things: her love of music, of gardening, and caring for the earth, her love for animals and the outdoors, or homemaking and interior decorating, her love for her children, grandchildren and family, love of country, of genealogy, and record keeping, and especially her love of the Lord Jesus Christ. She approached it all with her whole heart and zeal. She added in her sparkle, sense of humor, and humility, and treated all of mankind with respect. She never meet a stranger and was always the champion of the underdog. She was comfortable with people of all walks of life and through her loving service touched the lives of many. Live and let live was her motto. Vera attended various country schools and the east Fairview school. She left home early in life to work in Sidney here she made her home the rest of her life. When her younger siblings were still growing up in Fairview, she visited them as often as possible and always brought with her an excitement for life. When she would leave again for Sidney, the home of her mother and children would always feel lonely without her. Her bubbly personality and undaunted spirit would always draw people to her and left them feeling uplifted. She worked various jobs in Sidney, including telephone operator, OR assistant in the old Sidney hospital and for Dr Baker veterinarian. The defining event in her life was marrying on March 1st, 1953, Vernal Dishon, who she had known since school days in Fairview. There mutual love of singing and performing music drew them together. They formed the “Vern Dishon Trio” with Curits Sundheim. They became well known throughout the ND and MT area and played together for many years. From the marriage two daughters were born: Dawn Vernae and Ronda Mae. In 1959, Vern began their business, “Dishon Electric & Refrigeration,” with Vera as his right hand and office staff, which they ran successfully until 1992 when his health required his retirement and eventually his heart transplant in 1993 in Salt Lake City. He passed away in 1998. In 1996, Vera and Vern joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. From that point on she served diligently in many callings, and doing genealogy. After Vern’s death, Vera continued the annual fall trip back to Salt Lake City where she worked as caretaker in the Sky Harbor club house from 1993 until her death. She would return to Sidney each summer to care for her home and property and to connect with dear family and friends. In May 2007, Vera married Mel Glodowski in SLC. They meet where she worked at Sky Harbor and where they continued to make their home together. Vera is survived by her husband Mel in Salt Lake City; one daughter, Ronda Mae Dishon of Williston, ND; a grandson Steven Simard of Williston, ND; two grandaughters, Lorelei (Ryan) Whitney of Buffalo, MN; and Danielle Tasker of Portland, OR. She is also survived by five sisters and two brothers, Nelda Gribben of Salt Lake City, Marlene (Dennis) Skorpil of Cartwright, ND, Jennice (Wilson) Curlee of Helena, MT, Evelyn Czipka of Salt Lake City, Sandra Meyers Colorado Springs, Alan (Darlene) Dschaak of Billings, MT and James Dschaak of Williston. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernal and daughter Dawn Vernae, her parents, two brothers Norman and Leonard Dschaak, and a sister Frieda (Harold) Riedel.
