Clara Carpentier, 94, of Williston, North Dakota died Monday morning, February 23, 2009 at the Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home.
Clara Marie Carpentier was born June 22, 1914 to Olaus and Karen (Iverson) Olson southwest of Alexander, North Dakota in Moline Township. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Sheep Butte Church and later confirmed from St. Olaf Lutheran Church in the Elk community. She attended rural schools, at Sheep Butte and Elk, and later at Charbonneau, North Dakota.
As a young woman during World War II, she and her sister-in-law, Lena Olson moved to Salinas, California where they worked in a laundry and later at a glass factory in Oakland, California, later returning to North Dakota.
On June 25, 1952 Clara was united in marriage to Earl Carpentier at Alexander, North Dakota. The couple made their home near Kremlin, Montana and lived on their farm. Earl passed away in 1977 and Clara returned to Williston in 1983.
Clara was a member of the Kremlin Lutheran Church and the ALCW Auxiliary. She was later a member at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Williston and the “Women of Life”. Clara was currently a member of Light of Christ in Williston. She enjoyed growing flowers, crocheting, and embroidery. She also made many quilts, most of which were for World Relief. When Clara was younger, she also enjoyed fishing with Earl.
Clara is survived by her brother, Albert (Gertrude) Olson of Mandan, ND; and several sisters-in-law; Eunice Olson, Lena Olson and Lois Olson, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; brothers, Arthur, Oscar, Paul, and Selmer; a nephew; Arlen Olson, a niece; Arlene Olson, and one great-niece; Jill Olson.

| Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home in Williston on Thursday from 9 AM until 6 PM; with family receiving guests from 4 PM until 6 PM and one hour before services at the Church on Friday. |

| Funeral services for Clara M. Carpentier, 94, of Williston will be held 10 AM Friday, February 27, 2009 at Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Williston. Pastor Morris Kirchhof will officiate. |
