Grover McKinley Faulkner was born in Arnegard, ND, on May 6, 1932 to William J. & Edna (Earley) Faulkner. He passed away at the Watford City Memorial Hospital on March 22, 2008 at the age of 75 years, 10 months, and 16 days young.

Grover grew up in the rural Arnegard area. He attended Pleasant Hill School completing the 8th grade. At the age of 15, he left home and worked for neighboring farmers and ranchers.

Grover was called to active duty with the U.S. Army on May 8, 1953 and served during the Korean War. He reached the rank of Sergeant E5 and was honorably discharged from Fort Lewis, WA, on May 6, 1955.

On May 27, 1957 he married JoAnn Dahl in Watford City, ND. While working for Rutledge Drilling Company, they lived in many area towns such as Crosby, Dickinson, Ray, and Wolf Point, until 1962 when they moved to Keene, ND. They returned to Watford City, ND in 1975.

Grover worked as a driller for Rutledge Drilling Company, as a truck driver for Independent Oil Company and Black Hills Trucking, and finally as a gauger for Texaco Trading & Transportation. While working for Texaco, Grover suffered a major accident in 1988, which caused him to take early retirement.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening – especially onions, braiding reigns, was an avid reader, and especially spending time with his grandsons. He was known for making the best bean soup and peanut brittle!

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, of Watford City, ND; two children, Brenda (Rodney) Johnsrud of Watford City, ND and Jay (Denise) Faulkner of Alva, OK; four grandsons, Andy (Jasmine) Johnsrud, Austin Johnsrud, Jacob Faulkner & Kory Faulkner; two sisters, Rachel Pittsley of Carson, ND and Loretta (Rudy) Kanta of Williston, ND; two brothers, Larry (Darlene) Faulkner of Arnegard, ND and Dean Faulkner of Sidney, MT.

Preceding him in death are his parents, William J. & Edna Faulkner; four brothers, Arnold William Faulkner (infant), William H. Faulkner, Mack Faulkner & Lester Faulkner; one sister, Lydia Wilson; and one infant daughter, Amy Carol Faulkner.
